Keyfob Boosting - Thefts

Before anyone takes any drastic measures, it's important to remember that we still don't know how Sungod661's truck was stolen, as they haven't caught the thief. It's entirely possible that an ex-dealership employee was copying keys and either selling them to thieves or using them to steal vehicles themselves. If your average degenerate car thief could walk up to any vehicle with a tablet and a unprogrammed key and steal it within minutes, you'd be hearing about insurance companies filing lawsuits against manufacturers.

I'm only personally concerned about the unprogrammed key + fuse. And as someone who doesn't trust FordPass for security reasons, I've potentially saved the bastards 30 seconds.

Not at all concerned about people being able to get into the truck. Locks can be picked, popped, and jimmied. And a rock through the window still works.

If an unprogrammed key lets you start it though, that's a massive security flaw in the design. Would be amazing if this worked, but not exactly surprising. Other car companies have had similar spectacular failures with wireless systems.

I need to grab a third key anyway, so gotta try this. Hoping and assuming it doesn't work.

Is the current theory on this issue that it requires an unprogrammed key or a key programmed to a different vehicle?

Accès to the vehicle. Pulling th fuse out and then finally using a third key.
I believe all 3 must be done to allow this to work

The system is designed that an un-programmed key cannot start the vehicle for a multitude of reasons. See explanation in my previous post with the details of how the system functions.

Understood but the fact the door is opened by intercepting my fob signal must have some sort of effect

We still can't confirm that the signal was cloned. As my previous post explained, there are separate signals used for remote access (lock, unlock, etc) and the passive start feature. The passive key needs to be activated by the BCM's antennas in order to transmit a signal, which only occurs when the Start/Stop button is pressed - at which point the fob can transmit a signal back, which is limited to a radius of approximately 3ft.

RKE is unrelated to PATS. Two separate systems. Even if they get the doors to unlock, a completely separate interrogation method is required to enable engine start.
