I think you can look up into that space from under the truck pretty easily. Might be able to see it by just lying under the truck. Maybe have someone hold a flashlight from the top if needed.

Could also drop a string from the top and grab the end under the truck to sweep that space from left to right.

I saw this in my email and just had to click on it. Made my day lol. Good luck with the key though, I always advocate for the flex claws, have gotten me out of enough problems but probably not best for a new truck.
