I've got a 2018 Crew Cab and I'm installing a pair of QTP electronic cutouts right after the resonator and before the muffler. In a perfect world I will not modify anything past the resonator exhaust tubes. This way if I want to go back to the OEM exhaust system I just need to replace the resonator.

I'm using a wireless controller that I will program to the garage door openers and mount behind the rear seat. I found a great way to run the wiring from the electronic cutouts on the exhaust system into the cab behind the rear seats and I found a 12V hot wire but it is always on. Has anyone found key on power behind the rear seats? If so, I'd love to know which wire. :)

Have a Happy 4th of July weekend!

I'd recommend just running a wire from the battery fused I learned the hard way that the truck is sensitive to power draws on existing wiring the ecu reads all. Plus that way if you ever get tired of it you dont have to patch up a harness wire. I'm following to see how this mod turns out.

Good point about the ecu monitoring power draws. I’ll keep that in mind. I found the power inverter under the rear seat. I would think there must be a power supply to that that might not upset the ecu if I draw less than 1 amp opening and closing the electric butterfly valve.

The QTP electronics requires a toggle switch so I can not use an upfitter switch unless I just want to use That switch as a power supply to the wireless controller which is an option.

The gray with a red stripe is a fat juicy 12v always on hot wire. It measures 0.150” OD so I’m estimating it is an 8 gauge wire which theoretically could handle up to 24 amp. Any thoughts or comments about tapping into that wire?

What I like about this location is that it is very close the the drain plug I am going to punch through to get the wiring out of the cab and under the truck to the electric exhaust valve motors.

I had my 300w amp running off that for a while with no ill effects.

I used Posi-tap connectors. It was always going to be a temp install until I could get around to running direct to the battery.
