As I am trying to decide on trading in my brand new Yukon (will take a big $$ hit). I most likely will get a 802 package. I decided to take a look at Kelley Blue Book to see the depreciation as I drive off a lot. I did both 2024 35 inch package and a 37 inch. According to KBB the trading value is the same once you drive it off a lot (I entered 1000 miles for reference). I assume there’s an issue with the system. Is it possible that on a trade-in they get equal value?

There’s not an issue with the system, it is just based on MMR / auction data which is probably pretty slim for all the metrics you have. You’ll find it is never usually dollar for dollar on options at resale time, so many other factors play a role. KBB is usually just a ballpark.

It’s better to look at your dealer’s trade-in number with the entire deal.

That’s what I normally do to begin with. I read on here a lot that the 37 inch package holds its value better than the 35. I assume that is selling to a private person and not a trade in. Totally agree on options however, it just seems like the 37 inch package would hold its value a little bit better. Looking at that comparison, the 35 inch package depreciate much less than 37. Just surprised if you drive both of them off the lot at the same time the trade-in value is near identical.

Completely anecdotal but I could probably find some data to back it up, but I would bet the most base Raptor probably holds it’s value better as a % of purchase price.

I side with KBB. The 37 only appeals to people that plan on upgrading an original 801. there's no real value difference in shocks , tires or bumpers once you drive it off the lot compared to the 801. Same with seats. Leather is leather to them.

What you're most likely to see is an internet marketing campaign telling you otherwise IMO. Only one way to know...is to buy em, sell em, and see where the rubber meets the road.

Those numbers aren't all that surprising. In my zip code they are priced about 5K over on lightly used comparables, but that doesn't mean the dealer doesn't try to make a few extra bucks off ya by low balling a bit. For what its worth those numbers seem a bit low on a 37 for only 1000 miles.

The 37 package is no different than buying a topper. Used car guys will tell you they buy trucks, not toppers.

Here is a 24 Shelter Green 802 priced less than a 24 801. Both loaded with pano roof and bedliners. Where I live a used 802 will be priced around $5-7K more than an 801.

I just did the same thing the OP did and I got the 37 about $1300 less than the 35 in San Diego.
