Hi guys, Could someone please enlighten me as to the efficiency of this K n N pod in desert like dusty conditions.I am prepared to carry a spare either way but am also prepared to refit the original filter if necessary. Hopefully there is some knowledge out there. Mac.

Maybe post a link? I have no idea what the K&N pod is, but generally speaking, so called "cold air intakes" are not a good idea off road, especially with forced induction.

There has been 0 evidence that any additional air will create more power only sound. Best advice is to leave the intake alone unless your upgrading your turbos.

Thanks Sozzy12, The pod is what we refer to as the actual filter in the CAI.I guess because it is shaped like a Pod.
Anyway i appreciate both these replies and will now refit my orginal filter.Thanks.

If it doesn't work, than why do all the off road racers utilize them?!

They use a K&N element, with a custom hand fabbed intake system...and if you needed a custom intake system, the K&N might be a good choice...I learned long ago those complete aftermarket intake systems usually do 2 things:
1) Make more noise...not more power, but lots of noise
3) Many of those systems leave the elements exposed for water crossings, where the factory intake was designed to take this in consideration...and some made from aluminum can pick up under hood heat for the intake charge..

Moral of the story?....save the money to buy replacement rear leaf spring paks...:)
