...4. Do we need to reverse any Forscan mods before installing the tune?
At the moment, we are asking Forscan mods being returned to factory before flash our tune. We interact with the PCM and TCM only in our tuning, however we would like to err on the side of caution with any changes to modules because of the complexity of the CAN network. I have 1 FRF member running our tune after undoing his Forscan mods, so far the tune loaded successfully, and he is getting some seat time in the truck...

Nick, thanks for your quick response and being so forthcoming on this thread. I'm sure I also speak for many others who appreciate a vendor who is so responsive.

Do you know if he reinstalled Forscan mods after tuning? I assume he would need a new Forscan license etc.

Currently this is what's holding me back from purchasing a tune. I envisage having to do the following every time I go to the dealer which is too much of a ball ache for me...

1. Uninstall Forscan mods
2. Reflash tune to stock
3. Go to dealer
4. Reflash JDM tune
5. Reinstall Forscan mods

Just having to do 2,3,4 on my Gen 1 meant that I only used the tune for about 6 months out of 5 years ownership. Planning to do maintenance myself on the Gen 2 so would only need to go back to the dealer for warranty claims making a tune seem less palaver.

You are welcome, just doing my job here!

I think he did to the best of my knowledge.

I can understand that. Having to make multiple changes for adding and removing the tune and forscan mods I can only imagine be a gigantic PITA. If you did the work on your truck, I can see our tune being right at home.

What Forscan mods are you using that would "require" a removal and reset before going to the dealer, and why?

None, but the tune has to come off and for the tune to go back on Forscan mods have to come off. Therefore each dealer visit would require Forscan off/on and tune off/on in some order.

If I have something wrong I would love to be corrected!

Got it. I thought you were removing Forscan mods out of fear of some warranty flag or something. I just suck at reading comprehension apparently.

What you said makes sense now. My '17 is out of warranty already anyway I think...

If you guys are talking about me, then yes I did..the day after. There was no issue what so ever --that I know of-- and shouldn't be any conflict. They shouldn't mix with each other with exception to the auto start/stop. This one I did not have to change as JDM took care of that at the 'source' of it. And, it wasn't all the forscan mods, only the ones that tied into the BCM, which was most, but not all. As far as the license, it's just a matter of if the 'trial' is up or not. it lasts for I think 3 months, then you go back to their site and get another.

With the tune, you are going to want to change back for obvious reasons. I don't like it either, but why take the chance. Definitely worth doing.. Going to be a sad, slow, boring ride to the dealer when I do go.
Guess I forgot to take into account that I would have to De'forscan' to de'tune' :pp:

Nick, maybe you guys can experiment with this locally at your shop with the tuner. It's only the key honk when leaving while engine running, and the DRLs

... and Lincoln mirrors, key in ignition honk, splash screen, universal up/down windows, audio mod, etc. etc. :D
They asked for me to do the ones involved with BCM..

I have the push button, so for me this one is key ... haahah see what I did there. When FOB in pocket, can go back n forth to truck.

The engine noise is only in the ACM, so did not change. and the mirrors and windows are not tied in with BCM. Those are in with door modules. i did change for giggles.. really quick to do.. and what did you do for the splash ? short boot up in instrument ?? thats IPC..that shouldn't have to go back either. or you talking about the GT splash? thats APIM isn't it?

anyway, they ask to make BCM codes back to factory as some of what they do communicates with several modules to say the least.
But in nutshell, wasn't really that bad and only takes 5-10 mins for this specifically. :peace:

Ok, so we only need to un/reload the BCM module? That is better than the 10 or so I had imagined. Did you leave the other modules modified when you loaded your tune?

Yes, IPC Quick Boot (No Ford animation shows on cluster) was what I meant by splash.

BCM stuff on mine:
Auto start stop off
Double horn honk disable. (I also have push button, I mentioned key by habit!)
Panic alarm disabled (I have small kids)
Intrusion sensor enable (planning this)
Powerpoint timeout disabled

I think global window open/close is tied into BCM. From the spreadsheet...
Global Window Open/Close
BCM 726-17-01 0101 0101 014A
BCM 726-17-02 0101 0101 014B
BCM 726-30-01 0101 xxxx xxxx
DDM 740-05-01 Dxxx xx
PDM 741-05-01 Dxxx xx

I can do without most of these but some are a must. (DHH)

Highway420 was who I was taking about (420 lololol)

Regarding the Forscan, we suggest all parameters be returned to stock before flashing our tune on your vehicle, but the BCM is most important to be taken care of. The BCM is not flashed by our tuner, however it does have alot of communication going on with PCM and TCM so we want to make sure no errors can manifest. What Highway420 did worked and so far seems to be kicking ass, but we will always make it a point to err on the side of caution when dealing with the CAN network.

In short, we recommend flashing back your forscan parameters to stock but it is a precautionary measure to ensure no ability to cause an error.
