That is because the Gen2 is 26% better so of course it will be 26% more to repair. However the fanbois will claim the Gen2 is 93.8% (they are being realistic of course) so in reality you are getting a good deal.

I don't know exactly how much better it will be, but it's going to be better for certain.

Maybe Rogue can comment because didn't they have the black Ecoboost Raptor? As far as performance off road compared to the Ruby Red one? I feel like they would have the best knowledge of the performance when off-roading. Yes, I know the 17 is a special engine specifically for the Raptor.

Unless the power is over 500 HP or TQ then it's not blowing away the Gen 1. If it does produce that kind of numbers then you'll know that Ford was serious about the Ecoboost.

My concern is the 10-speed transmission because when off roading and changing grades at high speeds and being off and on the throttle is my biggest concern. Porsche's 10 speed was horrible and that was on the pavement! Real world testing will prove how good the 17 is.

I have no issue buying a later Gen 2 if it proves to be worthy but I'm not buying something that a has a whole new transmission and engine and trusting that there won't be any issues when I know my 14 can handle anything I throw at it. I don't care about being the fastest or the quickest I care about reliability when I'm in the middle of nowhere by myself.

Do you not have the "power" to do something about it?

I agree. It's getting old.

SDHQ did an early Eco conversion. I have not heard any problems from that.
Also, I just picked up on the comment that not only is the 10 speed Trans controlled by the computer, but so is the new transfer case to provide the different "modes". That combo concerns me. Too much "new" there. But, maybe they did right.

Probably is a good thing to an extent so the new modes can lock out the higher gears or allow the transmission to hold gears longer so its not always searching. But with new equipment like this comes electrical and sensor problems which are a pain in the ass and expensive when they go wrong.

along with the little bitch motor

More power AND torque in a package that's lighter by 500 lbs. Power:weight is much better.

The V8? I agree, along with the Gen I they're moving onward to new technology.

Seems like every time you buy toilet paper, they tout it as new and improved but you didn't used to get poop on your fingers.

Sounds like a personal problem. I suggest you eat more fruits and vegetables.
