From what I understand the oval is held in place by plastic tabs that are impossible to keep intact when removing. And the bezel (part the camera sits in) is held on by two screws visible when the oval is off. There might be a way to save the tabs by going through the backside of the gate but I haven't checked yet.

Based of the words of people who've removed it, I guess so. But if for some reason the camera malfunctioned I don't see Ford breaking parts just to replace it. So there has to be a way to avoided breaking shit.

I wish that Ford change the blue oval to black oval in its trade mark. The black is a universal color. Just saying.
