Is weather tech still the way to go?

I bought my rear Weathertech liner before I had my truck. You will want them if you have kids. The guys with kids I'm sure will agree with me on this.

I have the husky and like them over the weathertech which I've had. Husky stay in place much better, have the ridge to control slop and fit nicer.

Bussy - Do you have a photo of your Husky floor mats?

I know there's a lot of love for the WeatherTech mats on this site, but there's one feature about them that I don't like. The WeatherTech mats don't really hold water like the OE mats do and instead are designed to drain all the water out of the vehicle; that's fine in theory, but I don't like how/where they drain water at the front of the plastic door sill (see attached image). Any water at the front of the mat is going to drain into that little groove at the front of the plastic sill and all the water will be channeled under the sill and carpet. I would prefer to see some sort of ridge to channel the water back further so it will drain out of the vehicle instead of under the plastic sill.

Here's the Husky X-Act Contour:

Not perfect, but in my opinion it's a better design in most aspects when compared to the WeatherTech.

I also wouldn't say that the WeatherTechs fit "like a glove" either. In that pic I posted, clearly the fit at the lower a-pillar kick panel isn't stellar and the gap at the plastic sill trim is inconsistent. I realize they're just floor mats and they fit good, but not "like a glove." From these pictures alone, The Huskys appear to fit a little better.

Just how much water do you get in your truck? Use the windows man! They roll up.

It obviously doesn't snow where you live. :) Snow and slush get on your shoes/boots and then it melts in the footwells after you get in the truck. Again, only my opinion, but I think the OE mats are better for my climate than the WeatherTechs. I don't want all that salty slush melting into the floor of my truck.

I saw your name, BAJASVT and assumed you were down here with us near the desert. See you are from Michigan. Agreed with the water/slush part. I'm from Ks originally, and we get plenty of snow there as well.

In SoCal...We just have to worry about sand getting into EVERY nook and cranny.

I got to agree with the criticism of the WhetherTechs. I have them for my SCAB. The rear just looked dorky and came right back out. The front s don't fit my truck like a glove either. And the passenger front will not stay straight. I would gladly trade them for a set of OE mats.

I'll have to check out the Huskys.

Haha... yeah I live on the wrong side of the country. My dad was a huge Ivan Stewart fan and I grew up liking the "baja" style trucks. My truck style is definitely in the minority around here. I have a 2003 Ranger that's just a run of the mill Ranger; I installed a "prerunner bumper" on it a few years ago and people are always checking it out, asking me about it, or wondering WTF it is. LOL If I lived out west, it wouldn't get a 2nd look.

Sorry to derail the thread... got sidetracked.

Don't know why peoples front would move? The floor area is laser scanned the the mold I'd made from that. The drivers side uses the hooks, the passenger side doesn't move.

In theory they shouldn't at all, but my passenger side one does shift a little. The mat has enough flex to allow it to shift a little crooked. It's not huge, just enough to sometimes open up a small gap beside it and the console.
