Is spray-in liner from Ford good?

I thought I would respond with some clarification.

Around the tailgate, the bedliner is applied thinner both with the aftermarket liners and with the factory liner.

Overspray can happen with both the factory liner and the aftermarket liner. If it happens, overspray is very easily removable (because it's on a surface that was not prepped for the coating and because it was not an actual direct spray).

I thought I would also mention that if you get the tailgate step, you will not have the factory bedliner applied to the tailgate.

Huh, I hadn't thought of that. I did order the step, though truth be told I haven't ever bothered to research what it looks like or how it deploys and stores. One of those, "Meh, what's another couple of hundred on top of 50k" decisions. ;-)

Thanks for the pictures. I'm sure this thread will help someone who's not yet ordered.

I have the factory spray in liner on 2013. Very nice application. The factory one is
applied uniform thickness by a computer programmed laser guided spray gun. You can
watch a youtube video of it. Aftermarket, may be superior, but it is applied by human
sprayers and is only as good as the person applying it. I also believe the LINEX owns
the company that does the factory liners. So.....

The man step is worth the money, IMO. I thought it was a stupid option until I used it at the dealership.

It doesn't matter if a man or machine applies the product. Either way, it's tested with a mil thickness gauge by a human. You get more product for your money with an aftermarket bedliner (usually).

Last summer, LINE-X bought a controlling interest in Ground Effects, Ltd. (GFX) which applies the bedliner for Ford, Dodge, some Toyotas, and the upcoming GM bedliner. However, the GFX bedliner product is not yet a LINE-X product due to contracts that are in place.

Did everybody who had the factory-installed bedliner have it listed separately on their window sticker?

My Raptor is on its way. I talked about a spray-in liner with the dealer when I ordered, but that was so long ago I can't remember if I actually asked for it. It's not listed on the window sticker.

Going through the 'Bed-liner Debate' with Ford on my 2013 F-250 i bought in May. 13.5mils thick! Told me on the phone they no longer spray truck beds for new trucks, but are actively repairing issues that are reported. When a business is going to spray, they should meet a standard. I know there is not a legal standard, but if the Pentagon had Line-X spray their building...Ford should probably leave it to the pro's and make a deal with them to stay "FORD TOUGH".
