Is Full PPF Worth it?

On a low production exotic or sports car, sure. But on a pickup truck? Not worth it to me, but everyone is different.

I need to ppf the front of my gt350, it’s super low and the front is basically a vacuum. On the Raptor after 2 years and lots of road trips, I only have a couple minor chips, but very minimal because of its ride height. But if you wanna bomb through jeep trails and not get any marks, then in that case yes, it might be worth it.

Also it just comes down to preference - if you're the type where you're bothered by paint swirls you can make a stronger case for the application.

I am bothered by paint swirls, but not as much as $6k leaving my bank account bothers me. For right now, I'll just polish it when I can't take the swirls anymore.

Not saying I'll never do PPF, but if I do, it'll be on a brand new vehicle I plan on keeping along time and have money to burn.

I do vehicle wraps and wrapped my entire Raptor in PPF. For a daily driver who doesn't plan on going off roading, you can get away with just the full front end being done (head lights, hood, fenders, mirrors, etc). If you plan on off roading it and care about protecting the paint, then I would just get the whole thing done versus just doing the front section only.

You may try to only do areas that you think that might get scratched only, but that first time you take it off roading and you get some scrapes on those pieces that you didn't do, you would have wished that you just spent a little bit more and just gotten everything done.

I would say, it is only really worth it if you plan on keeping the car for a while or if you off road a lot and want to protect the paint. If you are just driving it on the streets and only plan on owing it for a few years, it's probably not worth the cost associated with getting the PPF work done.

That price is insane, definitely going to get mine done but just the front end, fenders, a pillars. Quoted $1800.

Like you I drive some narrow narrow trails so I just did he PPF down both sides to prevent pinstriping

My previous raptor got scratches on every panel including the roof and tailgate from off-roading. Truck would of needed a complete re-paint.

On my next one, I did a full PPF. They used precut pieces so no trim or badges where removed. I paid more than $6k. If that is the price you are paying then I they most likely will be doing it the same. Because of precut pieces, the edges show. And on a white truck, the edges show even more because they collect dirt.

And I had a minor accident off-road which I need to replace my front fender and body work on the door. So with the cost of the suspension and body parts and now I have to have the PPF added back again, it just adds to the cost.

If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t of done it and rather just a wrap for less than 1/2 the cost that wouldn’t show edges.

The question was between full or partial. It’s definitely not worth the money for a full ppf. Especially, since you could paint it for less. I off road mine and it’s perfect. I had the front end, front fenders, mirrors and partial hood done with premium clear ppf for $800. That along with mud guards, keeps my raptor near perfect. I’m in Cali and only do desert runs. I would consider the sides and roof done if my off-roading included trails with low hanging branches and brush. Car paint includes a few layers of clear coat. You can buff out swirls or pin stripes yourself easily. Full ppf is a luxury not a necessity. If you want it, get it, but you don’t need it unless your making your own trails on mountains or woody areas like jeeps. Even then, it’s a truck. All the jeeps that off road like this have their paint all jacked up. They’re considered battle scars.

Lots of good feedback here, much appreciated. I do have the rapid red with the tinted clearcoat so wondering if that means I have an extra tiny layer of protection already haha.. For those who did get PPF, what kind of guarantees are you getting from your installers? How many years? I'm planning to keep this truck for the long run.

6,000 to wrap a vehicle in a protectant.

What are you protecting it from? Sun/Bugs/Water spots. Do you not have a garage or car port?

6,000 is literally what I spent to mod my vehicle but rich people do rich things lol. Spend that money and help this recession out!
