is forscan considered a tune for warranty

So I was able to use Forscan lite on IOS to rest the transmission adaptive tables. It completely fixed the hard 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Amazing. lets see how long it takes to come back. However I am very satisfied with the tool and the bluetooth OBD adapter. Now to disable the engine sound enhancement.
When the transmission adaptive tables are reset, there is a very specific drive procedure that needs to be performed afterward. Otherwise the transmission will not re-learn properly.


Adaptive Learning Drive Cycle​

Programming
NOTE:
Perform the adaptive learning drive cycle on a level road surface.
  1. Using the scan tool, clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and Transmission Adaptive Tables.
  2. Drive the vehicle until the engine and transmission reach normal operating temperature.
  3. Accelerate from a stop with light throttle (15%) ensuring that upshifts 1st through 8th occur at engine speeds between 1300-1600 rpm.
  4. Continue to accelerate (may apply slightly more throttle after 7-8 upshift at 32-38 mph (51-61 km/h) until you achieve 55 mph (88 km/h) and the 8-9 and 9-10 shifts complete.
  5. Brake very gently to a complete stop and hold foot on brake for five (5) seconds.
  6. Shift the transmission to Neutral. Wait 1 second.
  7. Shift the transmission to Reverse. Wait 2 seconds.
  8. Shift the transmission to Neutral. Wait 1 second.
  9. Shift the transmission to Drive. Wait 2 seconds.
  10. Repeat Steps 3 through 9 six additional times.

Thanks for posting this, although it seems excessive and I'm not sure where many techs or even owners will have the place to run thru 7 cycles in a row. Is this just suggested, or is there a PID to show learning has completed?

yup. Went through the entire process. One thing though keeping the truck between 1300-1600 rpm while accelerating is very difficult to near impossible. Closer to 2000 rpm is more realistic

No PID, as the leading does not actually “complete”. This procedure essentially establishes a base table from which the transmission will continue to learn/adapt.

I suspect that in a lot of cases where people complain of shift concerns that are resolved after performing an adaptive reset but later return, the technician/owner is not performing the required post-reset drive cycle.

well i'll be a great test case. it's unfortunate that after 40 years of all kinds and types
vehicles this transmission is so
unrefined it needs tables to be reset to get it to be consistent shifting.

That’s the case with any modern electronically controlled transmission; the procedure is not unique to 10R.
