Is 37 PP worth it?

I had an 2024 801A.

I sold it late in the year. However, when I sold it, I already knew I was going to buy another Raptor…most likely an 802A.

I went out to Utah and did Raptor Assault in November, 2024 (last class of the year).

Knowing I was somewhat of an “Free Agent”, I asked every instructor, 801A, 802A, or R?…all answered 802A. They said better balance than an R. Better off-road ability than an 801A.

That confirmed it for me and I bought a 2025 Space White 802A.

I loved the 802A seats at Raptor Assault when we were absolutely abusing the trucks. I felt very planted. However, with my new truck, day to day, they are notably stiffer.

For what I do with the truck, any/either would be more than enough. I live in the Midwest and am not bombing my truck off road. She is mostly a pavement princess and gets me to my favorite fishing holes.

I love the looks and for me, that was enough. Assuming I recover some of the delta in cost vs a 801A…when I sell it, it was the right choice for me.

While not part of the question, I went back and forth on going with the R just to have the baddest truck…but I couldn’t get past $25,000 (I could have gotten one at MSRP) for an engine that I will hate when I get single digit gas mileage. If I could have gotten an R and sold it for more than paid 6-12 months down the road, I probably would have done that but, it appears, R’s are now depreciating just like every other vehicle (your results may vary).

Again, the Raptor Assault instructors were not huge fans of the R due to weight/balance and usability of the power (for being off road 99% of the time).

All great trucks. You cannot go wrong.

Nice post and agree all the raptor trims are great trucks, However, I am not seeing any real depreciation on the R unless they have high mileage or anccidents, and don’t see that changing much. It’s a very limited vehicle as opposed to the other raptor trims. I’m seeing a lot of 37 PP available but would jump on an R at MSRP in a heartbeat if I have the opportunity (very long shot…I know).

You do. Might not have wanted to pay, but if cost the same and wasn’t a logistical issue, you would. To say otherwise is being obtuse for no reason.
