Awesome! Yep that will be a solid DIY contest entry. I have been putting the winch off, but after the lifetime warranty and the whole water thing now its got me spinning the cogs of creativity haha

I might have missed it but what metal did you use? Size, kind, and how much?

That's mostly what I was asking. I haven't gotten far enough in my planning process to figure it out myself.

Looks like 2x6 box and a lot of plate... Probably all 1/4". Am I close?

You got skills. That looks great. Though, I do recommend replacing the lead flare with a "Roller" type flare, but that would probably stick out to far for your liking. Again that's an excellent JOB!

Didn't think you were supposed to use a roller fairlead with synthetic rope???

I'm not sure if you are or not, but I do see them being used with roller type fairleads all of the time. Though, I do see your point that the rope could get wedge in between the edges of the roller and eventually causing the rope to fray. I still use steal line on my ATV winches. I do plan on replacing them with synthetic rope one day.
