oh wow!! that's awesome. Are you running long tube headers with 3" collectors? If so dual 3" will really wake up your truck.

I've found that stainless steel absorbs much less sound that aluminized tubing does and that you need much bigger mufflers when using stainless. Those mufflers may still be a bit loud if running long tube headers and no cats. stock manifolds and stock cats and they will sound really nice!!

Have you read anything about using a helmholtz resonator to kill drone? Most modern day American firing order v8's drone at 150hz, by building either a quarter wave resonator or a helmholtz resonator, depending on which math you prefer you can cancel out the 150hz that we hear as drone.

lemme know if you want pics of what I'm talking about. I'm confident that it will cure your bleeding ears:)

The 6.2 uses a non-standard firing order. (It's part of Ford's advertising hype.) This will probably change the drone frequency.

Ironman, I replaced the factory muffler with a Magnaflow #12388, which is 24 inches long. Your units appear shorter, but with two of them you have more internal muffler volume than I do with my single. Mine does not drone. Yours will probably not drone, either.

I am looking forward to reading/seeing your progress and results. BTW, if you welded that X-pipe yourself, you are a craftsman and a wizard.

Yes I am running Stainless works LT headers with Cats.
This is my next step "helmholtz resonators" if the drone doe"s not go away.
Just need to calculate the length for frequency. JOY!
I have the 5.4 L and I've read that that drone a lot more compared to the 6.2 L so we'll see once I'm done if I need the pipes.

looks great im sure it will sound amazing

Thanks!
I think so too.

I have the 5.4L.
These Magnaflow's are 18" long and the one I have now I believe is 24" long with an internal X pipe single exhaust.
Yes with 2 of them is what I hope to increase the sound deadening area to help kill the drone but hopefully still sound good.
You have the 6.2 correct?
I have read that 5.4's are more prone to drone.

lol I wish I welded that X pipe, looks like TIG welding and I only have MIG.

I have this same exhaust just a single muffler with the turn down and it's deep but not too loud. The tone is low enough that the drone inside the cab isn't that noticeable and I'm sure with the both if them it'll knock the drone down even more! 5.4>6.2! Haha

Also I must add I have added sound deadening in the cab so it helps with road noise!

haha low blow man! lol
But I fixed it for you.
Yeah I tore apart my whole back half of my truck and installed sound deadening material with little effect to the sound.
I put the dynamat like stuff and extra padding on the floor and the back wall behind the seats.
Next is stuffing the doors.lol

Oops my bad my fat fingers hit the wrong symbol but I fixed it lol I also have a 5.4 so it wouldn't make sense to say that 6.2 is better..

I didn't use dyno mattig or anything like that I actually used a spray in rubber type sound deadening all in the cab but I also have to do the doors. The rubberized spray sound deadening seems to work a lot better cause you can layer it.
