That's a funny one. So you had the key/fob on you? Yea, it shouldn't make a difference if you do or don't.. alarm is active it's active. if i go to open the door from inside handle while fob is pocket, alarm goes no prob. the sensors should trigger regardless of location of fob.

It was in my pocket until I used it to turn the alarm off. I forgot about perimeter setting, but know at least I know to shut it off when I'm too lazy to set up a tent.

Is there any way to make "perimeter only" the default setting?

I think there may be a way in the advanced settings. I'll have to look when I get my truck back from Ford later today. I usually on the pop-up when I shut off the truck. I want it active more often than not.

I always forget to set to perimeter only when my dog is along, 5 minutes later he wakes up and sets it off.

Those interior motion sensors are very sensitive. I had my alarm going off a few times in the middle of the night a week ago and found out it was a month flying around. I've also had leaves falling through the moonroof setting it off as well, so now I only leave perimeter on when I turn off the engine. If your 11yo can't set it off, then it might not be working. I have a 2017 802a.

There IS NOT. When you change it in Advanced Settings it will be active for the next time you lock the truck, then automatically reverts to FULL arming of doors, tailgate, hood and motion sensors.

You can select Ask on Exit which will present you the choice each time you leave your truck...but as many have noted it is easy to forget if you're out running errands with your pooch.

I finally decided that I was not concerned with the interior motion sensors enough and that I have my dog with me more often than not...that I was fine with permanently disabling the motion sensors. Some others have simply taped over them with black electrical tape. That's not my style.

So I went into FORScan and permanently disabled them. Only way to turn them back on is to go back into FORScan and undo the change. Nothing harmed. Totally back to stock. Fully reversible. Just not something you're going to do and undo quickly or often.

Here's how I look at it. As long as I have nothing in the vehicle that can be removed through an open window, no big deal. Most likely scenario is someone thinks they'll reach in and unlock the door and then open it...triggering the alarm.

When paired with the Perimeter Plus (only available as an after sale option -- NO TRUCKS come with this as a factory installed option) you can have hood, door and tailgate protection with the factory standard alarm and jacking, towing, impact (so if they decide to break a window rather than open a door) protection with the Perimeter Plus installed.

I detailed the FORScan changes required to disable the interior sensors in the Tweaking Your Truck thread. Works great! These changes are NOT in the spreadsheet although they are a reversed subset of the changes that were being made by those who added motion sensors to trucks that did not come with them.

Your explanation about the headliner guy seems the most likely. Upfitter switches are a separate connector from the motions sensors I believe...so could easily have connected one and not the other.

Final NOTE to Ford designers...it would sure be nice if you took a feature from Porsche. On the Porsche when you don't want the interior sensors active, you just double press the door handle touch sensor or double press the key fob lock button. Car responds with a long light sequence and you're armed without the motion sensors. Simple. Elegant. No goofy ask on exit steering wheel buttons etc. Just a simple change to how you lock your vehicle.
