Anyway, tell your wife what your plans are. If you are wrong, she will probably tell you. I mean, I don't know your wife, but that's pretty typical. Does she really want the Expedition or is she doing it because she wants to be a responsible mom? Just wondering if she will subconsciously resent you for getting the non-practical vehicle why she has to be practical.

She wants the Expedition because the Explorer ST isn't large enough for 2 kids, 2 adults, dog and luggage (In both of our opinions) if we go on a trip.

My wife likes SUV's. I don't discuss vehicle purchases with my wife, she knows about them when they land in the driveway. That's not me being disrespectful towards her but she doesn't care. She wanted to quit teaching after 5 years and stay at home when our first child was born so that was fine with me. She's also grown a very successful business and that's her "whatever" money. It works out well for both of us.

This is more of a "me" issue as I try to be reasonably practical. I just don't want to pay for a vehicle that only sits and is driven maybe 1-2 times a month

Well.. im probably the bad example with a model s, ascent, bronco, gt500 and a raptor incoming next week with 3 boys ages 8, 6, and 4.. look if you got the cash to spend, if it doesn't affect your life then pull the trigger on both. If you're nervous about it then in my opinion you should not be doing it because if you weren't in a pickle you wouldn't be asking the question when we don't know your financial situation.

I look at it this way.. raptor costs $80k. Are you in a position with your portfolio where if you burned $80k today in your backyard you'd still be fine? If the answer to that question is yes then I say do it.

The alternative is maybe sell your f150 and replace that use with the Raptor.

Ultimately if you got MSRP on all your vehicles then you're not losing here.. whether it's the gt500 or raptor you will sell for more than you paid even with taxes accounted for.

Is your current raptor paid for? Not the Gen 3 on order, but one currently in your driveway. If so, I would just keep that one and order the GT500. Then you would have all of your basses covered. Older raptor for raptor things, truck for truck things, and a GT500 to hopefully beat a Hyundai.
Only because you have a work truck you can use for personal would I say the GT500. Otherwise a family man “needs” a truck. IMO

Is it possible to have the Raptor as a work truck and sell the 150? Or is it company owned?
I was giving a truck allowance from work and I choose a 2013 Raptor 8 years ago.

I don't have a Raptor currently. I don't have a personal vehicle because if I'm not working then I'm usually at home.

My work truck is company owned but I own the company. I have other trucks I could drive that aren't being used due to the lack of people who actually want to work. The Raptor will be my work truck but it has a limited section 179 deduction due to the 5.5ft bed.

I will wait for the Raptor and then go with the Raptor R when it's available to order. I believe this is the most responsible thing for me to do

I wouldn't burn 80k in my backyard, because burn permits aren't being issued right now.:Big Laugh:

Spending the money on an object that won't be utilized as much is what I am concerned with. Time is important to me so I like to maximize it in the most efficient way possible.

How's the bronco with the family on board?

Then this changes it. I would get the Raptor now, GT500 later.

Wont hurt to get a Mustang. Here's a pic of my oldest boy back in 1998, I put both my kids in the back seat in car seats, trips to Cali 3 times a year, changed diapers at rest stops, they both kept busy with Game Boys too.F3D88168-DAC6-469A-9E8C-74126AC04DD2.jpeg

Get both and use them as write off toward your business! Think of it like this... mobile advertising ;)

It's technically legal to a certain amount but I don't "cheat" on taxes, it would be hard to justify a GT500 as a necessary business expense related to what I do.

Ive pretty much talked myself out of going with a GT500 at least until I start and finish building my new house.

Wasn't implying anything but had to have a little fun with it. My wife and I have a 16 gt and we have the raptor and to be honest the mustang has maybe accumulated 60 miles on it since December, I'd stay with the raptor if you live in an area that sees snow and is heavily salted like we have here in nj
