Interesting chip shortage note (not raptor specific)

My brother just bought a new Audi. When he was signing the paperwork, they only gave him one key fob. The dealer told him he would receive the other in a few weeks and that Audi is only sending one key with the car, due to chip shortages, and sending the second once it sells.
Just thought it was interesting how manufacturers are dealing with the shortages.

He’s going to have a wait. I took delivery of an rs6 at the end of Sept. The car arrived at port in mid August.
Still haven’t gotten my second key. No ETA for the second.
Friend of mine took delivery of a q5 in mid October, also only one key and no eta either for the second.
I put an AirTag on the key in case I lose it so I at least have a chance of finding it again since I can’t even throw money at the problem.

Luckily my Launch Edition Rivian R1T comes with 2 carabiner fobs and also I can use my phone instead of the fobs if i want to.

… when is it coming?
Decided to skip the LE (dumb move in retrospect) and despite having an early reservation (first 9k pre orders) I’m most likely more than a year away from delivery.

Pre-orders started in late 2018. I didn't pre-order until Sept 2019. COVID set everything back.
