I have gone through the process of removing and installing the front shocks a few times now. My preferred method at this point is to use a torque multiplier with a breaker bar to remove the nut.

Though, as others have mentioned, you should be able to get it off without the torque multiplier and just use a cheater bar on the breaker bar. I just like the ease of using the torque multiplier.

To get it back to on I use a big torque wrench.

You can rent air compressor, air tools, 30-32mm sockets, torque wrenches from most major tool and equipment rental centers.

I changed out my front shocks/struts using air tool which zipped lower shock nuts right off with no problem.

I bought a torque wrench that went to 400 lb for just over $100 and put a little extra on the nut after torquing it to 400 lb.

You are supposed to have the weight of the vehicle on the lower shock bolt before tightening nut. If you do this with the tire on, having it on a lift will give you enough room for the torque wrench ratchet to work and you can use more of your legs and upper body to tighten.

The only thing I messed up was using blue and not red thread locker, one day I will take off the nut and put on red thread locker, I put slip marks on the bolt/nut so I can tell if nut starting to loosen.

Alright guys, got the new Icon delta UCA' installed. I thought my buddy and I had enough strength to loosen the lower shock bolt with no success. We broke a 3/4 6" extension on the breaker bar. I didn't think that was possible but we did. That shows you how hard we were leveraging. Ended up buying a DeWalt Xr 20v 1200ft/lb break away battery impact. It took it off without even trying. Crazy how powerful a battery powered impact is. Thoroughly impressed. Install took about 3 hours.
