Not to be confused with a Thingambob...specs are similar but are very different for Obvious reasons.I believe it is referred to as a thingamajig in the ford reference material.

If it’s moving freely then it isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do.
And that's the reason why it feels loose.Quite a few owners removed it only to find out that,
there is vibration that you can feel and your side mirrors will become obsolete because they will shake.
The bolts are imbedded in a rubber grommet thus making them isolators.
