yeah the bump kit will reduce the load that the 3.0w/internal bump puts on the shock mount and distribute it across the frame.

Funny how people think that the stock rear shock mount is a poor design. I have never seen a stock shock tear off. Now if you want to say that the stock system is a weak design when running aftermarket shocks ok I can agree with that. :)

True enough, but you've also seen stock shocks allow frames to bend, so while the mount hasn't given out with the stock shock, the stock shock is soft enough to allow the axle to **** the frame. Your point still stands, but it's the domino effect, upgrade one thing to address a problem and the problem shifts down the line to the next weakest link.

The newer ICON on the rear doesn't require any trimming. I didn't have to trim mine and knock on wood, mine haven't broken loose.

But did the bottom mounts break? From what I saw actually both shocks broke in half at the bottom.

Curious, what were you doing when they both broke, jumping and happened during the landing?

I have seen many posts on broken upper shock mounts, and so far all have failed on full extension, not compression.

You explain the total problem yourself. When you upgrade things beyond stock you have zero argument that things are weak or a poor design. Anytime you want to upgrade 1 thing you better upgrade everything involved with your upgrade. And we dont need to bring up a rear frame ****** here we know that Ford knew that the bump stop point was weak.

My '10 shock mounts started coming apart at the weld. This was well before any 3.0s were in the market. I'm not going to say it's a horrible design because the truck wasn't designed to do what we are doing to them. ***** gonna break. I raced motocross for a few years and I broke stuff all the time. Didn't complain about just spent money and made the weak parts better. Anyone that buys these trucks and drives them off-road thinking it's not going to break should go sell it and buy a Prius

not complaining about breaking it at all. i was putting the truck through its paces pretty well. im just trying to find that solution, and build it better than it was.
