I just completed the ICON bumpstop and multi-rate leaf spring kit install. I have pictures of some of the install although @BIRDMAN and others have a great detailed list of recommendations for the bumpstpp kit. I wanted to start a new thread as no where was there a place where these were both done together. I also installed the new TIG welded CAMBURG shackles which is beautifully designed. The kit is very good from ICON and has a great appearance with its finish and fit.
Total kit time with a mechanic friend and I = 10 hours
Difficulty level 6/10
Tool required: outlined by ICON in PDF instructions but sawzall or 4.5' grinder to cut bolt behind gas tank is great on a full tank of gas to reduce vapors etc. A lift would be ideal. Good torque wrenches
Difficult steps: instructions leave a lot to be desired but the other members have good recommendations for kit install, some of the bolts are difficult to access and an added hand is helpful, lack of torque specks for some of the bolts, cutting bolt from tank is a pain. U joint was busted at end at had to be cut to allow for threading for bolt. My friend recommended I complain about the bad U joint....recommend taking off spare tire but I was able to do all of install without removing Fox shocks
Modification compatibility: kit is compatible with Roush stage 2 exhaust with some minor bending of exhaust hangers, undertaken with pipe wrench. Camburg TIG welded shackles were easy to install and are heavy duty in comparison to OEM.
Results: No more axle wrap/ wheel hop in supercharged truck with standard leaf set-up, no additional replace or add a leaf needed, firmer ride and increases height by 0.5 to 1 inch in rear: with mid perch it appears to be factory rake.
Questions: If you have any specific questions I am happy to answer about the leaf springs, bump stop, or camburg TIG shackles
