*UPDATE - The dealer came thru. They ordered me brand new trim pieces. I picked them up today and will install them myself.
I had to go to a dealer today to get my moon roof fixed. It wouldn't close all the way. My service guy did a great job. He seems like a stand up guy. When I got the truck back, I tested the new moonroof and it worked fine. I drove off and within less than 10 minutes I noticed a scratch on the passenger side trim right above the glove box. I know for a fact that wasn't there before. I'm very OCD about my truck and I know every little ding and scratch especially on the interior.
I kept looking around and noticed some scuff marks on the passenger door. A little more looking and I see another scuff mark on the plastic trim on the passenger side of the center stack. I called the dealer and told them about the scratches and that I'm bringing the truck right back.
When I get there, I show my sales guy and show him the problem. He tries to call the detailer to see if they can fix it, but he's already gone. So then he gets the manager involved.
The manager looks at the scratches and then with this smug look on this face tells me "he's not believing it." Not believing it?!? What, like I just made this story up to get them to fix scratches that I caused? I proceed to point it to him some other marks on the truck that I did in fact cause myself and fully admit it. Why wouldn't I just claim they caused those ones too? We go back and forth on this for several minutes and I start to get pretty pissed off.
Finally he realizes that I'm not just making this shit up, and says he will look into ordering replacement parts to fix the problem and they will call me. On the way home, I notice that they also somehow managed to scratch the tint on the passenger side window.
I'm starting to think that 99% of "professionals" who work on vehicles are incapable of doing work on a vehicle without damaging it in some way. And then the way he implied that I was trying to pull a fast one on them really pissed me off even more. I understand that there are people out there who would try such a thing, but I'm not one of them.
When I got home, I decided to get my cleaning supplies and see what I could do about the scratches and scuff marks. After about 20 minutes with the cleaning supplies and some elbow grease, I managed to reduce the scuff marks on the door and above the glove box to an acceptable level. You really can't see them now unless you look really close. The one on the side of the center stack is still pretty bad. I'll probably just have them replace that one part.
From now on, before I have anyone work on the truck, I am going to do a walk thru with them to document all scratches and blemishes on the truck. You just have to assume that they are going to damage the vehicle in some way.
You can actually see two screw ups in this picture. The little gouge on the center stack was caused by the idiot who installed my alarm system right after I bought the truck. Unfortunately I didn't notice it for at least two weeks since you can't see it from the driver's side.
