Now time to take it to Pismo Saturday

We are headed to SoCal tomorrow, but nowhere near Pismo, unfortunately. I do love flying into Oceano and walking to the beach. That's always fun times.

Nice! think it sounds good now take out then Resonator and then we'll talk.

Resonator? If that makes it any louder, I'm good as it is already. Any louder and it would be annoying. I guess I'm just getting old.

Just got back early this morning from SoCal. Great road trip. I love this truck. Easy to drive. If people tailgate you, they just disappear. Fairly decent gas mileage. About 14.5 mpg the whole way. The Nav and Sirius are very cool, too. Pandora needs volume boost though - I see that now. But overall, this was a great decision.

Have you reset the AVG MPG since you got it? I reset mine just as we started the road trip to SoCal. I was averaging 15.8 until we got to Coalinga (Harris Ranch). Then it went down 15.2 to climb over the Grapevine.

On the way back home, I had a headwind and I went a little faster, which brought the average down to 14.5. If you look on Trip A, it was only 13.8 coming home, but I wanted to know the overall average to compare to my old Tacoma. I only burned an additional 6 gallons with the new Raptor. Not too bad. Plus only 2 fuel stops for the entire trip. Gotta love that big 'ole tank.

That's a bummer.
I also ordered the 5-Star tuner with the 87 octane economy and 87 octane performance to see what difference there is from stock programming. Hopefully I will get the 100 extra miles per tank that they are claiming.

I have very little data to compare it to yet, but just driving around the Sacramento area only so far on this last tank of gas, it's averaging 12.9 to 13.0 mpg on the Eco tune. My gut feel is this is about 0.5 mpg better than stock...

On the performance side, it has better throttle response and when you step on it, it flat out moves! Just watch the mpgs fall away. Ha ha

So it's almost a 5% gain and at today's fuel prices ($3.859/gal), the tuner will pay for itself in 27,128 miles give or take. As fuel prices go up, the payoff will be quicker.

this is why im thinking of getting a tuner even though i dont plan on doing engine mods... im sick of the bad throttle response stock... when i push the traction control button for street mode it has great throttle response and shifts where you would think a performance truck should. Ive been nervous driving long distances with the street performance mode though, and it'd be nice to have that kind of response all the time...
