How many miles per tank are you getting on your Gen3 Raptor?

Did a test to see what mileage I could achieve, highway only this past weekend. Was able to keep it at 70mph on cruise 90% of the time. 200 miles each way, light wind. The way out I got exactly 21mpg. The way back was 19.5. No ”getting on it” and was trying for max mileage. 35” and always 93 octane. 8400 miles on the odometer.

That’s pretty damn good! I usually top off at half a tank and today I got 738 dte on that 93 Costco stuff…13500 on the clock. Again, mainly highway miles to & from work.

I'll never try this again with my gen 3, but on my gen 2 I squeezed out 25 mpg over 2 weeks and 500 miles of driving, combination of city and highway driving. The secret? NEVER over 50mph, and if you even think you hear your exhaust you are accelerating too fast. I tried it once just to see what was possible, but the drives were so long and slow it was a one and done type of experiment.

Sons baseball trip from Tx to South Carolina didn’t use cruise on the way up there but I was getting 18.6avg. Running 93oct and around 77-80mph.

I'll never try this again with my gen 3, but on my gen 2 I squeezed out 25 mpg over 2 weeks and 500 miles of driving, combination of city and highway driving. The secret? NEVER over 50mph, and if you even think you hear your exhaust you are accelerating too fast. I tried it once just to see what was possible, but the drives were so long and slow it was a one and done type of experiment.
LOL…sounds like my drive to and from work. Not in a hurry to get to either place.

I just did a cross-country trip in August/September:

Way out: Denver to Portland, Maine (approx 2,000 miles) and got 16.8mpg. many sustained periods of 85mph +, and also garbage gas in Nebraska/Iowa with far too much ethanol that knocked the trip mpg down to low 15's. Once we could get 91/93 again we jumped back up. Not bad for blasting the throttle many times to pass trucks and such on I-80, and my gf is starting to get a heavier and heavier foot each time she drives the truck lol


Way back: LBI, NJ to Denver (approx 1800 miles) ended up at 16.3 mpg. Prior to our last day of traveling, we were at 17.4mpg. We had to fill up in Nebraska with 87, so things fell off of a cliff. We also were driving ridiculously fast and had a great road partner in a current gen Cayenne driving between 95-100 for a few hours. I also made the mistake of throwing it into sport mode as I was dying to get home, whoops.

My lifetime mpg is at 16.3mpg now at around 11,000 miles on the odometer. It was at 16.8mpg until that last day in Nebraska, sad.


I will say, the truck is probably the best road trip vehicle I have ever been in, topping my previous favorite vehicle (E39 M5). Extremely comfortable, decent mpg for being what it is, and effortless passing with a blip of the throttle (especially if you are in boost already). Very impressed and love the truck even more. Now, to get back to some trails and go find some desert before the snow comes here in Colorado.

I think that is great mileage for the speeds you were going. Mine definitely drops quite a bit going from averaging 70 to averaging 80. Also, I have traveled from Buffalo area east on interstate 90 for about 3hrs. and back in the same day a couple of times a month for years. No matter what vehicle I have driven, heading home (west) is always 2 to 4mpg less. Must be wind aided going east and into wind going west for the reason. wind for sure impacted mpg along with our ultra aggressive driving on the last day lol!
