how do you launch this truck?

What I read is that the stock programming won't let you power brake for fear of overwhelming the brakes. You have to have the "auto hold" feature on. That is where you stop the truck and the green light comes on and the truck will stay stopped until you press the accelerator. With that feature on, you can power brake. I've done this and tried the different modes and with traction control turned on and off, but when I power brake like this anywhere from 500rpm to 2000, when I let off the brake and hit the gas it's like there is a one second delay. It just hardly goes anywhere for a second and then roars to life. I also put a banks pedal monster on it to see if that changed it and it didn't. When I'm just at a stop light and I'm not trying to "launch" it, it feels like it reacts faster. I can't figure it out.

Call me paranoid, but there is no way in hell I would switch from 4A to 2WD under load. That just sounds like a really bad idea.
I was under the same impression as you were, but after much reading and convincing on how our transfer case works, there’s no additional wear or tear since our t case is clutch based. Meaning same as a manual car. You will cause wear if you drop the clutch while revving but not if you disengage it.

At the end of the day it’s a truck, if you lose the race, you can rest assured you can still do the same in any terrain weather it be dirt, snow, creeks etc.

Though I haven't tried but that's kind of unexpected. R's engine is tuned to provide low-end torque so I think as long as you enganged 4A or 4H (or simply sport mode), you will gap most car in the first second. I even saw videos for R initially gapping R8 or GT500 and assumed they are all stock. But if you tried all of these then a tune will make things better :). But anyway this is a truck and it's heavier, less aero dynamic and even for tire it's not designed for max traction on the paved road.
by slightly beat i mean my front end was parallel mid way through his passenger door so i'm not too mad i lost to a car much lighter and unknown mods, all i could tell was itt was cammed bc of the aggressive idle.

anyway, how do i select sport mode? all i see is sport mode on exhaust?

There is a knob over the rear diff lock button (in the center of 4WD selection buttons). You can turn that knob actually and it allows you to select diving modes :) Yes you can select sport steering/suspension/exhaust over the steering wheel, but you can only put engine in sport mode using that knob. I do feel launching in sport mode is faster than in normal mode.

I believe the consensus to a good launch is in sport, 4A @ 2k rpm, and once you roll through the first two gears at about 30mph, flip into 2h while still in the gas.
Does the computer even allow this? My impression was if I changed 4WD mode while on gas, gauge will prompt me to release the gas to continue.
