Thanks for the help. I have the HDS-7M Gen2 Touch. Thanks! Bill ---------- Post added at 09:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 PM ---------- I have the same issue with losing GPS fix randomly. I am going to order the external antenna also Thanks! Bill

Lawrence keeps trying to tell me my speaker on the dash is causing it to lose fix. I don't believe it.

I have the hds7 gen2 in my 2020 not the touch and on the lost coast run I lost gps last 1/4 of the day yet my 2012 that has hds5 gen2 with an external antenna had gps all day. Found on line that there is two antennas available for hds7, point 1 and also point 1 Baja don't know if the Baja is needed or not

Purging the existing files worked. Now I can see the new trail. The strange part is that I only had 6 trails loaded and plenty of memory left. Not sure why this glitch is happening???

I called both Lowrance and PCI and they both said we need the baja version as it has certain cables we need. According to both it's the same antennae just different things we need in the kit make the baja more expensive. I'm going to purchase and install as well.

here, on frf
here is my take on the signal loss.

the signal from a gps satellite can not pass through metal. if your nav is sitting above your radio, then the only signal that is coming is from through your windshield. while this is enough in most cases, if you get turned a certain direction or encounter thick overhead, then the signal being received is too weak for you nav to triangulate you position

I agree with Noah. I have the Baja elite 5m but I will say it worked wonderfully in Texas and I have never had any signal loss besides pulling in the garage or in parking garages. I still will be mounting the external antenna on the area above the 3rd brake light. Might do that tomorrow. Then get a permanent ICOM antenna for the same area for the radio
