Regardless of how we made our money, it’s hard to drop $70k into a truck, which will only decrease in value (though probably much better than many other vehicles).

I bought my 19’ Raptor at age 30, and kinda feel like it’s a terrible financial decision at this point in my life, especially since this is vehicle #5 for me... :-/ Most of my colleagues are talking about how much extra they are putting into their 401K’s and driving the cheapest POS they can find. They definitely look down on my spending habits. Wonder who is making the wisest decision...

Which is all well and good, but you are not guaranteed a tomorrow. Save money, invest in your retirement, but don’t forget that the point of living is to enjoy yourself. Too many people get caught up in comparing themselves to others that they forget that we are all running our own race on different courses.

My answer - Dave Ramsey, Financial Peace University (google it)- destroying your debt snowball, destroying your credit cards, saving money like crazy, and then living like no one else.

We are having our 17 year old do this as a home school subject.

Bought a used Gen1. Work as a firefighter. Pay when I bought mine at $32k was $56k. It’s gone up a bit in the last year which helps with upkeep - big part of these trucks, especially if you get a used/Gen 1, and extra important if you use it as intended!

*Financed mine. Was able to get payments to a place where it didn’t affect anything else in life. Needed a three car seat capable vehicle anyway so figured I’d pay a bit more and get something I liked.

Obama era entitlements....kidding

Drugs! Yup plain and simple - the legal kind. Degree in Pharmacy, MBA in pharmaceutical marketing. Past 23 years with one of the world’s largest pharmaceuticals. Work in the field as a Medical Director. Got tired of the company issued Nissan Altima (only choice past 2 decades) and opted for car allowance. Plan on retiring soon and moving to our 6 lakefront acres in South Carolina where I’ll need a truck. Even though I’m upside down on payments, they are paying 1/3 of my truck for me!!
