I'm going to pull the plug on the Lightforce Striker 170 50w HID's. $614.00 on Amazon and $618 from my local 4Wheel Parts store. They will fit on the Outlaw mounts. BigJ has the 35w version on his Raptor and still loves them. The 50w model is the newer of the two. They have a knob on the back that let's you adjust them from a spot to a flood and back again. You can search for his post on these. I just wish there was a forum vendor that had these.
I can't speak for any other options, but I can definitely vouch for the LightForces. I was in the desert just last weekend, and they let me easily pick out rabbits crossing the trail 500+ feet up ahead.

Even so, there's no reason not to go with the newer 50W versions. I don't know how much more you can hope for when set to spot than what the 35W offer, but when set to flood and/or color changed the 50W is sure to make a difference.

Speaking of which, to be honest I haven't really used any filters (a major feature of the LFs) since adding my 20" Rigid light bar to the bumper. I'm letting the bar do the up close 'flood' work, and it does fine out to about 150 feet. After that the LFs take over and take care of the long distance work. Its been a great combo.

One bit of caution: be careful when comparing "lumens". The shape and surface finish of the reflector plays a big roll in how well a driving light works. Its maybe at least as important as the lumen rating, itself. Consider the package on the whole, and don't focus so much on lumen to lumen comparisons.

Good luck with your hunt!

Thanks BigJ. I know lumen ratings don't really tell much of the story in real life usage. I will look into the LF that you and Evilmonkey are using.

The trick with spots is in how you aim them. Spots put out more of a "cylinder" of light than a flood. It goes farther obviously, but doesn't cover as much area. If you're on flat ground with spots, they will light up tree lines huge (500ft+) distances away, but they only light the ground for about 50-100 ft or so.

Picture the end of a wooden dowel rod. It's a circle. Cut it off at an angle it becomes an oval. The oval has more surface area. So... if you point your spots down a touch they will light up a little more area where you need it. On the ground.

On a related note, the Whelens are amazing. They put my Rigid Duallys to shame and almost outshine my Blackhawk 40" Also, they come with interchangeable lenses to get the light right where you want it.

Let us know what you end up with!

Well, it will be a few months until I make a final decision. I have been in contact with a vendor who told me last night they have a new product do to be launched in a "few months.". No specifics yet but I told them I would wait to see what they come up with before changing my lights.

Lights are in. Picking them up tomorrow afternoon. Going to do the install on Saturday. I just can't decide to take the night shots this weekend around home or wait to take them when at the Oregon dunes next week. I'd like to take them at the dunes because this is where I'll use them the most. Can't wait to see these at night!

Well shit. I just got my 4500's a few days ago. Tried to order my Outlaw mounts today, but their website was screwed up & I couldn't check out.

You all are really making me rethink whether I want to keep these lights or just try to sell them and use something else. The high-beams on my 2013's HIDs are insane - from what you're saying, these really won't help me at all.

Dammit.

You have to call them. I called outlaw and picked up Raptor claws and rear shock guards yesterday.

Just to chime in, My Vision X HID's 4502 spots are my biggest reget so far. They came damaged, (Outlaw has yet to correct that problem) and the performance is way less than my expectations.
