Sorry, didn't want to make anybody regret their choice. I just thought they would reach out further than my brights(HID.) They don't so, they are really not useful for me. I have M&R 40" on the bumper, M&R 30" behind the grill as well as 2 sets of D2's in the bumper. Long range is really all I need them to do. Funny thing is I talked to a fellow Raptor owner and he said Outlaw told him he would not be happy with the 4502s. I bought them because they recommended them to me.
Hopefully everyone that has these finds that they meet their needs. Please don't think that they aren't quality lights. They are good lights, just not what I wanted.

I didn't take it as product bashing - but I greatly appreciate your candor.

I specifically wanted something to reach out farther than the stock HIDs.

WSI - Do the Whelens have better distance than the stock HIDs?

I'm eager to hear some good answers to your original question. Might just have to sell these 4502s before mounting them.

Thanks doc. I really like Outlaw and didn't want it to appear that my wanting to change was any reflection on them or Vision X. I was just disappointed that my brights reach out just as far/farther than a distance spot. That and you can never have too much light.

QUOTE]

I honestly don't know, But we have stock 2010 non-HIDS on our OD green Raptor (which the first picture shows the light output of those). The other pics show 4 Whelens, 2 bumper mount and 2 hood mounts, all on spots (you get 1 spot, 3 varying degrees of flood lenses per lamp). The crest of the hill is about 275-300 yards away.

Spend the money once guys. We have 8 Micros on the shelf right now, including 2 amber Micros. We also can get the lens retainers of the Micros powdercoated in your choice of color!! The perks of American manufacturing!

The Whelen's are badass. Have you checked out the Vision x Transporter series? Last week they were rated at 8,874 lms. Now the website is saying 5,298 lms. Those are what I'm gonna rock when I get some mounts.

I had rigid duallys and I don't recall their alleged light output. But they are nothing compared to the whelens. Whelen also has a spot/flood combo pioneer that jimmy can get as well. A bit big for a hood mount. I want to say those were basically 4 micro in a different housing but were something like 16 lumens I don't recall the exact number off the top of my head.

Nice part about the whelens is not a lot of light floods out on the hood and isn't wasted in the beam pattern.

Sorry, had to fix it for you!

I swore I put a "k" after that. No worries don't want to false advertise.

I love my whelens and plan on picking up more as time goes by. Just need to find places to mount them. Quality product and made in America.

I and WSI's hood mount brackets are bad ass. Beefy and mate perfectly with the whelens. No shaking or wiggling while off road. They hold tight.

So who here has stock HIDs and mounted something on the hood that reaches past them?

Mine are the longest reaching lights I've ever seen on a stock vehicle. I'll have Whelens on the bumper for floods, wanted more distance than Ford gave me already. I suspect no LED is gonna do that.
