Anyone build their own exhaust? I can't believe how expensive the professional cat-backs are so I want to build my own, just wondered if someone could answer a few of my questions?

-Pipe before the muffler is 3" and after is 2.5"?
-I want to use a 3"in/3"out muffler and a y-pipe to connect to the stock outlets, anyone know whether or not that will work?
-Anyone know where to source the flange in front of the resonator?

-Any recommendations for a muffler? Flowmaster has the 40 and 44 or maybe a Magnaflow? Trying to stay cheap on the muffler if possible (<$100).

Thanks Nick! I am planning on getting most stuff through Summit. I'm just not sure what type of flange that is to be able to find it. Looks like I'm on the way though. Thinking Flowmaster Super 44, that Magnapack might be a little bit too loud.

Quiter than my last truck (Straight piped Cummins) but a little bit louder than what I want on this truck. Sounds good though!

I bought a SpinTech Sportsman muffler from SpinTech then went to a local exhaust shop.

The shop build a cat back from after the Y back, removed the resonator and dumped a single 3" behind the axel.

I forget how much it all was. I think about 200 for the muffler and another 200 for the install.

I got a magnapack... Its good. I went from a cutout to the magnapack, obviously not as loud but much more defined. Deeper rumble and actually has a tone. The cutout was just loud...

I also did a lightening style exit.

I am currently looking at installing a cut out on my 2011 screw. I need advice on wether or not to take out the resonator... Will the cut out still be loud if i install it after the resignator? Need advice asap got cut out in today and have been scratching my head since looking at exhaust.

There are challenges. It used to be that most muffler shops couldn't bend stainless steel tube, so you had to settle for a system that would slowly rust. I don't know if that's still the case. If you piece togther sections of stainless steel tube in lieu of bending them, then you have a LOT of welds and somthing other than a smooth interior surface.

You understand that removal of the resonator will make the truck louder at all times, whether the cut-out is open or not. That might be okay in your neighborhood and it might not bother the police, but then it might. You might also not enjoy the increased noise in the cab during long drives like vacations.
