I hydro dipped my door handles and they came out really good. I just bought a kit from Amazon and did it myself. It’s not super hard, you just need a decent size water tank Maybe do a couple practice parts to get the technique

So far I’ve done
- Ceramic tint all around
- Sync 3.4 (using Sync 4) conversion, Foursynctech kit also added Navigation + USB-C conversion inside the center console storage
- Matte Red 3M (sample size) to fix the worn red leather stripe

Currently trying to figure out how I’m going to dechrome the interior. I want to go for something similar on the Gen2’s that have the carbon interior trim. Not sure if I want to wrap it, or see if I can find some real carbon fiber interior pieces. I saw some ABS plastic “carbon fiber” trims, but from my own experience, real carbon fiber has a nice premium look to it with depth.

I’m also looking into “windshield lights”. Something like this but amber. Found some for $49.99 on Amazon.

Nobody makes actual CF pieces for the interior for the Gen 1. You have to get the covers (like I did), vinyl wrap, or hydro dip.

What's the idea behind those windshield lights? The only time I've seen those used was for volunteer/professional EMS or local enforcement.

Bummer, I love the look of real carbon fibre in interiors, I've used it sparingly in my Camaro and it has such a nice pop with the dash and climate control lights. Vinyl wrap will probably be what I'll end up going. Have had good experiences with the 3M matte black one when I was experimenting with my beater.

Windshield lights would purely be decorative, I'll get them in amber. I could get some for the rear, I tend to use my hazards a lot to warn about folks on the shoulder or road hazards.

I tried installing a tailgate assist but failed to install it, and it doesn't make sense that it would work. Bought it from an Amazon seller selling for 09-14 models, they had two options: black and silver. Now that I'm looking, the black one looks like it installs differently, so I'll ask the seller to get that one instead and try it.

Also bought a VIOFO A119 V3 hardwiring kit to finally give power to my dashcam, though I'm debating whether to commit to it, or get a dual dashcam setup and hardwire that one.

I have a tailgate assist and it works very well. Also have Garmin dash cams in front and rear windows. Another nice addition is electric tail gate lock which operates at the same time as the door locks. Ford tailgate theft is a thing as it takes only about 30 sceonds to remove them.
