Unless your local PD is looking for things to do, chances are they aren’t going to be receptive of your video to try and track down a hit and run. In VA if the damage was above a certain threshold it was a class 1 misdemeanor with possible jail time, and even then it was tough to get large jurisdictions to follow up. It may be best to give the video to your insurance company and see if they can do anything with it, their motivation will be much higher to find someone else to pay up.

OP: Sorry this happened to you! Are you able to post the original raw video file to a file share site like google drive? That's your best chance at getting an enhanced view of the plate.

Agree with other member who mentioned diminished value by going through insurance. That really sucks! Maybe time to upgrade to the frame-cut bumpers from SVC or ADD?

That d-bag drove off with zero hesitation, like he didn’t realize it happened, inclined to agree about booze being involved.
Which is exactly what he May Say when push comes to shove, “didn’t realize I hit something, my tranny been acting up lately etc”

Are there any earlier clips saved from before the accident that show either vehicle in better light? Perhaps from when you first parked, or when they arrived?

Looks like a black/dark colored 2015-2019 ford f150...first 3 of the registered plate possibly 896. Judging from the damage, I'd guess it had a hitch and ball on it so damage might not be too visible on it.

On second thought after looking at your plate, the first three might be S96.

Being law enforcement, report it now to police and keep an eye out for the vehicle. You can always update reports when new information becomes available. It appears to be an apartment complex so the vehicle is more likely to reappear.

As an Ohio highway patrolman, any damage perceived to be over $1,000, we have to do a report. Not sure if it's the same in Jersey though.
