I used a couple composite shims front and back to jack it up tight and shot a whole tube of silicone in it .

I’m going to knock on wood at 119500 mostly highway miles no beating , jumping and very little rain or snow , garage kept . The third brake light seal was the first WTF ford , second WTF ford was the vibration damper plate wearing out and third double WTF ford was the sunroof ( I never use it ) drain lines not being run to the outside rusting out the cab corners they must have used the Taurus lines were short 10in . All and all no big problems just stupidity from ford . Getting ready for new shocks (if anyone has a good line on OEM )not rebuilding and eventually new exhaust. I don’t let Ford service departments touch it anymore way too incompetent.
+1 on rock auto. Way cheaper than anywhere else.

I've never checked in on this thread, so for those considering a gen 1, I'm just going to say, I'm glad I did it. I've got a 2014 Screw with 140k miles. Bought it 2 1/2 years ago in super clean condition with 132k from a good friend who bought it new and spoiled it. We're Nor Cal people so our trucks don't rust, but this one lived it's whole life in a garage and it's owner serviced it regularly.

The only thing he did was routine service, tires, brakes and installed a RPG bump stop/frame strengthening kit out back. He relocated fuse 27. He did nothing else, and swore it was the most dependable truck he's owned. He did not do spark plugs. I've got all the stuff to do that, just waiting for a good weekend with a break in the weather.

Shortly after I got it, the sunroof track exploded, and I replaced it with the f150 kit from The Sunroof Doctor. Took the better part of a full Saturday to remove the headliner and install, and I made the mistake of not testing it before buttoning up the whole interior. It does not open now, but I don't care. It closes tight and doesn't make unhappy plastic popping noises anymore so that's how it'll stay. If I had my druthers I'd weld up every sunroof in every car I've owned. It's a curse that follows me ;) ! Oh, and also, suddenly the power door locks all stopped working. I checked fuses, checked wiring that flexes in the door, nada! Then had it in the dealer for the trans recall, and they fixed the door locks by just changing the fuse :O !!!

Shortly after I got it, I had a shop cut and weld in a MagnaFlow muffler, so the exhaust exits through it's factor twin outlets. It sounds amazing and deep! Then I found a local guy on FB selling a 5 Star tuner, and wow, did that make a huge difference. I uploaded the 91 Octane Performance tune and never looked back. Just absolutely LOVE the tune, from the BARK at cold start, the super snappy throttle response, and the improved trans shift mapping, I highly recommend it.

Then I got a Banks cold air intake, oiled, with the mesh pre-filter. That completed my objective, and I couldn't be happier! For my bi-annual California emissions test, I've had to upload the factory ecm tune, and I cannot believe what a slug it was before, and I can't WAIT to get my 5 Star tune back in there :D !!

What's next? My power steering pump makes that supercharger whine, so I should probably start saving for the full Lee PS upgrade, or maybe just the Ford OEM pump? I'll need brakes real soon, and tires. Stickin' to 35's on 17's. Oh, and I picked up a cheap 'used and abused' set of Icon 3.0 reservoir shocks with triple bypass rears, which I'm trying to get in a box and send back to Icon for full rebuilding, and I've got a set of sweet (for my low budget) LSK fabbed UCA's and I'll get SDSH camber plates to install while I'm in there. Steering tie rod ends would be a good idea too, since I've got to align it. Oh, and someone on FB was selling a new Mag Hytec billet rear diff cover (with the wrong old spec oil), so that came home with me. I got new led tail lights and a tailgate hydraulic assist awaiting install too. I'm dreaming of some rear Deaver +3 HD leaf springs too, and "that should do it"! Famous last words ;) !!

It's a great truck, its even better than I imagined, and I am HOOKED!! Buy one with service records if you can, and ENJOY!! It's one of the last great V8's!!!
