How does an eighteen year old afford a truck like this?

Well, ive been working for couple of months now and ive managed to save some money at least for the down payment. Also, i graduated top 10% of my class with a 3.5 gpa so my dad was willing to help me out with some of my payments as a gift. So in other words, i kinda worked my ass off.

I think this is a different world you live in compared to the way most kids grow up! Just my opinion which matters not, but working a couple months and maintaining a 3.5 gpa is something kids SHOULD BE DOING WITHOUT REWARD of a 50+K truck. Youll never appreciate something when its always given to you.

On that note, congrats! Its a sweet truck!

Well take care of that thing!! There was a thread on here somewhere with an 18 year old kid who thrashed his raptor and daddy just kept forking over 1000's to fix it.

I'm 34 and remember kids arriving to college with brand new 3/4 ton diesel pickups and $40k cars. That wasn't the case for me in my 19 year old Monte Carlo that I'd had to get the transmission replaced on before I could drive it, but I'd say probably 20% of the kids there had a car that cost what my dad made as a yearly salary. My youngest brother went to OU and graduated earlier this year. He took a picture of a girl driving a "1 of 43" special edition Ferrari. She can also be seen driving a Raptor and Mercedes G-Class from time to time. When I visited him, there were 4 Corvettes in the dorm parking lot. I think perhaps it's not as uncommon as you feel it to be 18 and have a kickass ride. (for the record, my brother was in a 15 year old Taurus)

Your probably right........

This is definitely a different world. To use our young 18 year old friends example.... I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA becuase I knew that if I didnt, I wouldnt be able to afford to go to college without an academic scholarship, and I busted my butt on the farm all summer while driving a 1979 chevy 3/4 ton farm pickup. Then spent 8 years in college to obtain my doctorate and borrowed a massive amount of money to start a business which almost bankrupted me 3 times since 2008. And now Im finally able to order a 2013 Raptor with high monthly payments.

So I can tell you because of all that hard work, I still dont feel like I deserve a Raptor as reward.

Im sure he's a nice enough kid, and Im glad things work out for some people.

But I am most greatful for my dad giving me an education in the value of hardwork and not a vehicle that 90% of America cannot afford just for graduating highschool with B+ average.

I agree with the hard work part. I graduated high school with a 4.0 and worked full time and went to college full time and payed my own way through college. I did not expect my parents to reward me with anything. My first ride was an 84 buick regal that my brother gave me after it had been stolen a stripped for parts. I work 60-90 hours a week in order to afford these big payments that come with this truck. That way I will appreciate it and take care of it all the same. I was not trying to offend the little squirt but I don't agree with a kid getting a truck that costs more than allot of houses in the small town that I live in. I just hope that he appreciates the situation that he is in and how fortunate he is.......:angels2:

Back when I grew up I had to use a shoe horn to shovel 6 ft piles of snow off the sidewalk just to go to school and then......

I don't know if I want any "Wu Tang"...unless it is on the take out menu...

You had it tuff...Have your kids do that today and it is child abuse...

My truck had Farm use tags on it...Girls did not like that at all...or the cow pies slung all over the underside...
