You simply do not have a loud enough exhaust system. The only reason you hear the whine is because you have the restrictive exhaust system. A simple/cheap option would be ditch the resonator. But if you get something with more rumble you can definitely bypass the supercharger whine with a louder/ deeper exhaust note.

The white whipple in my avatar pushes out 16 pounds and you don't hear any whine once you get it spooled. Granted when its coming at you it sounds like a jet but from the rear and cabin it is all exhaust due to the magna flow exhaust setup

The whine is just a characteristic of superchargers, it's the noise made by the supercharger when it's spinning, it's a completely separate noise from that made by the exhaust

Then the exhaust must be too quiet because the whine is all that seems to be heard. It is fast though, I give it that. He is taking it back to Hennessey and they are going to change out the exhaust. I assume headers too, looks like they use Kooks so that should help to?

Of all the trucks and cars my family has had headers on they have increased noise volume, but I will say the biggest increase in exhaust note/volume is whether you have cats or not (no cats more noise) and which muffler you go with. I would imagine a set of kooks with a nice dual magna flow setup would be nice. Probably good videos on youtube...

If i had to choose between supercharger whine or loud exhaust, id choose supercharger all day long. Ive had Kooks (full Exhaust system)on my last two svt trucks and its amazing in performance, sound and i wouldnt run anything else but nothing sounded better when i bought my Lightning and hearing that blower spin up all the way home from the dealership :) The more you add sometimes you give up on what hooked you in the first place. Don`t get me wrong full exhaust kicks ass but everyday all day it gets old.

You can drown out the SC whine with exhaust but not all of it. You will always have some at the hit of the throttle before it the exhaust catches up.

A lot of the noise does come from open CAIs. I couldn't see what was on it from the pictures but a stock air box will calm the noise down. It will hurt power but if he REALLY doesn't like the noise it is an option.

One the Lightnings add in a big cone filter made the SC SCREAM!! It was usually a good sign that they guy next to you was going to get a taillight show fast.

The Kooks stuff is nice. Had a set on a Lightning got lots of complements on how it sounded. Kooks LTs, high flow cats, and a Magniflow cat back. It was a full setup from JDM.

Had a 99 Lightning with the exact same exhaust setup. It was ridiculously loud and awesome. Girlfriend hated it on long trips because the exhaust exited right beside her, but dammit when you floored it the exhaust sounded great. Ported blower, lower pulley, and exhaust...sounded absolutely insane and was a blast to drive also.

I have the mbrp downturn on my truck and it sounds like silk tearing when you get on it.

I like all engine noises though. Supercharger whine sounded cool to me too.

I have headers on my to do list as well. Ironically I just had 2 exhaust manifold gaskets replaced under warranty.

And ya it's fast. I've had guys in m3's looking at me in their rear views wondering wtf was going on when they couldn't lose me on the highway.

Okay, he gave me the keys and let me take it for a ride by myself. Wanting me to compare to what I have. First time driving a Roush supercharger. Hennessey claims 600hp. Definitely has more power. But when flooring it, there is no deep rumble sound like mine with the Ford Racing Exhaust. It's a whining noise of the turbos.

Is there any exhaust (and headers if needed) that you can put on this to give it a deep rumble but not too annoying or do all supercharges sound like this regardless what you do? He said he is taking it back to Hennessey cause he doesn't like the sound but asking here if really anything can be done.

How do you like it? I am thinking to go that route too.
