$2,800 is about the bare minimum with having a local shop do the work. Bottom line....if you have the B&O stereo, you have to get the ZEN + 5 channel amp + sub woofer (and box). To save a little cash, you could keep the factory door speakers for a while. Believe it or not....they are not the weakest link in the B&O system. The amp is.

This is my build.

I did my install over 2 weekends. First weekend was the zen + amp + sub install. ran that with the factory in door speakers and it sounded pretty good. Installed my new door components the next weekend and it sound great.

You can never have too much power (from an amp)......but too little power is what fries speakers.

Speaker wattage rating really means nothing in regards to how the speaker will sound when it's all done. A 200 watt 6.5 inch component will not be louder then a 150 watt one if they are both using the same 75 watts per channel amp. Speaker efficiency is what matters.

@smurfslayer myself, and a few others have the most experience on here with changing out the these systems. We have a few different opinions, but generally reach the same conclusion. keep coming back with questions and we will all help you as best we can.

Yep! The the conclusion I've came to. I could do the door speaker install, the mounting of the stuff, but running the wires and hooking it up is where I get jacked. Yes, I could "figure it out" but... I guess, "I" have to decide what my "figuring it out" is worth. 15years ago, I would figure it out! Today.... yea, not so much. LOL!

Pretty standard stuff. My recommendation would be this....if you are going to put a sub box under the seat, may as well take up all the space and put dual 10's instead of a single 10.

You will be fine using the stock rear speakers with the new kenwood amp for a while....rears are just fill anyway....they will gain them down. but 1 ten wont be enough to keep up with your new components up front. I have dual 10's now, and I am wanting to find a way to squeeze dual 12's under the seat.

Either way, it will be 10x better then factory.

Ok thank you GoBlue! Thank you... I'm glad to hear I'm not getting "completely" taken. The component prices seem to line up pretty fair from what I'm finding, so that's good.

Either way, it will be 10x better then factory.
THANK GOD! :) :)

Yes, I will consider the two 10s option when I go to pull the trigger. (that was already on my mind Ha!)

Thanks again everyone and I will keep you all posted.

5 bills for labor seems about right to me. I won’t quibble on the components, they’re subjective and as I and others have stated here before, anything will be an improvement over stock.

The only thing I would mention is the sub location; I went with a behind the seat enclosure so I still have bass when I have to fill up the cab with stuff. But that’s my preference. If you’re happy with the results, I say pull the trigger and get thee some good sounding tunes.

Warning: Once you do the upgrade, you’ll sorely miss your stereo when you’re in something else.

No idea what this means... o_O

Scosche is a gerneral parts brand most shops use for generic parts that fit many applications. Mesa is a brand name for these generic Schoshe parts....the mere fact they put the mesa brand name on the package is to try and hide they are Scosche....so the shop can charge $10 for a $5 part....because of it's implied higher quality.

Would be like someone taking Fruit of The Loom cotton socks, and re branding the Polo so they could charge $20 instead of $10.

nobusa was just calling that out to you because of your line about getting "completely taken". It is no big deal, but just making you 100% aware

What is your solution for the jack? What do you plan for if you ever need to change a tire out in the wild? For me, that was on of my concerns.....i needed the jack to stay in it's stock location. Didnt want it anyplace else in the cab....and my OCD requires nothing to ever be in the bed unless i am hauling it from point a to b.
