All 2017 F150 ECO 3.5 are CA Emissions, even the ones from the 49 states. If your from CA you can buy one from any state and register it in CA, I Talk to a Tech Specialist at the CA DMV today and confirmed it, CA goes by the emissions sticker only. If you have any questions PM me.

For other green states you need to find out if your state goes by the emissions sticker or the "CO" Certificate of Origin. If its the CO you need to check with that DMV because some have a form to fill out and others wont let you.

Thank you so much for the information.

I live in California and ordered from Missouri. My truck is released but has not shipped yet and does not have the CA emissions option. It is an October 17 build. Does anyone know another work around to register in CA because I just read that I will not be able to because it's a 49 state vehicle. Otherwise I have to do another allocation :(
Thank you in advance!

I was in the same situation buying in Alabama and living in NY. Our DMV goes by coa. Nobody walks out to the truck to look at anything. We do have a form(mv-74)but I am not willing to take the chance they will accept it. Local DMV never seen it and you can't print it online. I had to special order it. There is some really good info on here for your state but for now nobody has come forward that had successfully registered a 49 state truck in a CA emissions state. Your going to have to make your own decision at this point.

I also looked into registering the truck out of state. Depending on the state it can be pretty tricky. My only option would have been Georgia. To make that work your loan has to match your registration and address exact. You also need a Georgia drivers license and Georgia insurance. I couldn't do the license part because of where I work. So keep that in mind if you have another state registration as your backup plan. For me it's another 3 month wait and back to contacting ford service each Thursday to see if my new order was pulled. Good luck to you.

For what it is worth, I previously lived in SoCal and purchased a vehicle out of state (from NY). In CA, when you go to register the car they do a physical inspection which includes looking under the hood for the emissions sticker. To the best of my knowledge as long as the sticker says it is CA complaint you are good to go.

Of course now the question is what does the sticker say? As my truck is at home I will have to wait until later to look.

Green state to green state isn't an issue. Or buying used from any state when the truck has 7500 miles or more. Then all this bs doesnt matter.

I live in California and ordered from Alabama as well (Decatur). Although I'm not concerned about registering the truck in California if I need to, I'll be registering it in Montana under an LLC for tax purposes. For anyone concerned about registering their truck in a green state and is concerned about emissions standards, it may be a viable loophole.

The actual window sticker states if it is 50 state legal. If its not it doesn't have the tag that states it passes CA emissions. But hey, I'm sure these Ford reps that have been saying your trucks will be "delivered shortly" for the last 5 months aren't spreading any misinfo. This is the 2nd issue in a week I have seen of trucks not being able to be registered in one of the 14 green states.

It will also state on the Truck's MSO if it is Calif. Emission legal. I just bought a 2015 Z/28 from a dealer in Louisiana and confirmed before purchase it was CA emission legal, had the sticker. Dealer told me they have to "check a box" on order for CA emission sticker to come on the car. He also sent me MSO for car which stated CA emission Vehicle on it.

I took MSO and smog check to CA DMV and was able to register without any problem (expect writing that check for the taxes of course).

So as noted above to register in CA, you need sticker in Car showing CA emissions (they check for this during inspection) and you need to pass CA smog test before you can register the car. If you are registered in another State and have more than 7,500 miles on your vehicle, you pay no tax and can register if your vehicle passes CA smog. No pass smog, no registration in CA.

So if in CA and buying out of State be sure it is CA emission to avoid any hassles.

I think through the few discussions we have determined that all of the 17' Raptors have the CA tag under the hood.

But from what I've seen the CO doesn't state that if it's not ordered with CA or CA emissions for non CA registration it won't say it on the CO. We are a green state and all of the greens states I've sold new vehicles to require the CO to have the emission printed on it.
