I realize this might be an absolutely stupid question but I was wanting to verify if a DOT approved dirt bike helmet is allowed. I'm purchasing my own open face helmet from Outlaw Raptor but my passengers will be wearing dirt bike helmets. Just wanted to make sure this was alright.

Thanks, Chase

If you were to do a track driving event, pretty sure you'd be required to use a car specific helmet - car helmets are fire retardant, while motorcycle helmets are not. I was also told that Auto helmets are made to take a direct impact blow from a roll cage, whereas Motorcycle helmets are made to take high speed surface blows across the overall surface of the helmet (i.e. banging/skipping across the pavement).

DOT legal helmets are acceptable. SA rated helmets are not required for the run.

I use the stig helmet for my car. (Its a Simpson Diamondback? if memory serves me right)

I have two Bell open face for instruction and ride alongs as they dont get the "100%" driving experience anyway. I wont risk another person's life.

I also have a motorcycle HALO looking full helmet. Maybe I'll use that for this run.
