Truck looks great! Can I ask where you got the Amsoil Protector at? Can not find it around here, would like to get some and do my truck when it gets here. 10/27 build, was unloaded off railcar in truck shipping yard 70 miles from me today, hope I do not have to wait 3 more months for it to come the last 70 miles! Thanks

I purchased mine at a local motorcycle store. They stock it on the shelf. If you go to the Amsoil web page it will give you a list of local retailers that sell their products.

A member asked me to detail the process I used to treat my truck so I thought that I would just post it for anyone whom was interested.

The process was actually pretty easy.

1. Any spots of rust I wire brushed and then hit with some rustoleum. Did not bother with the cv shafts as they are unfinished metal.
2. I took the truck to a local car wash and pressure washed the undercarriage with a good rinse.
3. I went home and crawled underneath the truck and dried/ wiped off every area I could reach, If it was steel I wiped it down. There is alot of residue that will not come off with just a wash. It needs to be wiped down. The hitch, springs, frames, shackles, cross members, transmission mounts you name it.
4. I backed the truck up on two of the #16000 ramps I purchased from Pep boys to give me more room to work as I sprayed the truck and so my face was too close to the nozzle. This stuff has a chemical odor. It not too bad but why take chances.
5. I sprayed all the surfaces I wiped with a liberal coat of the Amsoil MPHD. I did not bother to tape anything up. The amsoil is safe on rubber and plastic so I just used control of the can to spray down all the steel area's I could find. it comes with a red straw that makes it pretty easy to get into tight areas.
6. Drove the truck off the ramps in the rear and place them in the front so that I could repeat the process.
7. Let it sit for several hours to dry before you drive it. I bought my amsoil a couple of months ago in preparation for a truck that was delayed several months. It took a while to dry. They have a new formula that came out this year that is supposed to cure in only 2 hours. That's the route I would go. I was not aware of the new amsoil when I did mine. It is apparently the same protection just in a quick drying formula.
8. Sit back woory free and enjoy the protection. All chemical smells will be gone in a couple of days leaving a nice protective waxy shell.

Good luck,
Tone

MPHD is the best stuff out there for under coating. I use it regularly on customer trucks in my shop. I do wrap the trucks with plastic wrap (the type on larhe rolls like you would wrap a pallet of freight with) to avoid overspray getting on the paint. I also use a product called POR15 on the spindles, front driveshaft, axles, rear differential etc due to being non painted steel. The link below is to finding it on the Amsoil website. If you make your purchase through the link provided, I become your sponsoring dealer with Amsoil and as a sponsoring vendor here on FRF, will always be here to help with anything you need.

Amsoil great stuff indeed, however, when I took my truck off roading, the mud and clay do stick to Amzoil treated areas and leave a stained look. Took me hours and galons Purple Power Degreaser to get it all off. Next time I would recommend using a bunch of wd40 over it to make the surfaces more slick.

The MPHD cures with a yellowish tint to it, I have never seen anything stick to it on any of the vehicles I've done. In fact, on mine it is quite the opposite. When mud sticks to the paint, inner fender liners and more, nothing sticks to my frame etc. Not even the road salt during the Snoball event stuck to it. For anyone wanting to rove it, moneral spirits works much better than general degreaser like purple power

I plan on doing this someday if I can ever get the rust issues taken care of. Mostly on the rear axle but there are some tight spots that are hard to get taken care of. If I had a lift it would be much easier.
