I think lot of raptor owner installed retraxpro mx/xr tonneau cover because of aluminum material and nice looking low profile, plus the lifetime warranty. Same here, I got one a couple days ago through an online authorized dealer. However, when I took final check before installation, something surprised me a lot. Check the pictures first.

all screw holes have cracks. Even the holes hanging on the rails. Really worry about it will fall down when driving on a bumpy road.
therefore, I contacted retrax factory and authorized dealer via email. The dealer did not reply at all. Fortunately, Retrax quickly answered me. they said this workmanship defective is not normal, they send a new canister for free. I am happy with this solution. OK, let's wait.
the new one came in yesterday in well sealed big box. So disappointed when I open the box. The new canister is in the same condition, all cracked holes (sorry I cannot upload more pictures here because of the limit). Am I too picky ? Should I contact them again?
I write it here, not complaining. Just want to check if anybody here found same problem. Any incident reported because of this defective issue.
be honest, I really like this cover after long time online research.
thanks everyone

Are they through and through cracks or tooling scratches? It's odd that in every case they extend to the corners, I would think that a crack would follow the path of least resistance and flow out the side rather than run all the way up to each corner.. It did not see those on the RetraxPro MX I installed late December. Good luck

yes, the cracks are through, not tool marks.

I just emailed the pictures to manufacture, waiting for their reply.

below pictures are the crack at left rear end of the new canister, outside and inside.

Darn, OK, I'm sure they will make it right. Let us know, FWIW, mine has been perfect and would absolutely purchase again. good luck.

Yes, their customer service was decent and replied very quick last time. But this time, 3 hour past, so far I didn't hear any.
By providing me the replacement canister, they want me slide out the rolling cover from the old and feed them into the new one. Since I am not authorized dealer, if I do it myself, does it violate the lifetime warranty? I asked them about my concern, they didn't answer.
let's see

Who was the dealer, so I'll know who to stay away from when ordering mine?

since you ask, I can tell you. it's tonneaucovered.com :)
but I don't want to blame anyone. The dealer might just take the order, and get it shipped directly from the manufacture's warehouse.
hopefully, my problem could be solved quickly. My truck is waiting for the new dress out there.
still waiting.

got reply from retrax, they finally call that "scratches" although the cracks run through the plastic end board both inside and outside.
Tyler said "those scratches are normal and should not affect the use of the cover" but still did not answer if it will violate lifetime warranty when i replace the canister by myself.
another email sent, waiting reply to confirm the lifetime warranty.

here is the reply:

my question:
"Does it violate lifetime warranty if I change the canister myself as you suggested? "
reply:
"No it would not void the warranty if you do that."
