ummmm its just paint and you bought a offroad vehicle..

Ummmm it's HIS truck and it's a $50,000+ cost.

I know first-hand about magnetic sheeting. I investigated buying that stuff and instead bought a whole roll of magnetic sheeting. I created paper templates and then used them to cut the sheeting. I also found a 3M tape product similar to duct tape but, like the blue painters tape, is designed to be removed without leaving residue. I used it to seal the edges and ensure an edge didn't peel back and the freeway speed winds didn't remove the sheeting.

Long story shorter, it was a LOT of work and while it protected most of my truck (the non-metallic fenders needed to have the sheeting taped on), it made my Raptor look like a hospital patient escapee. :signs16: I'll try to find some pics and post them.

It worked but I only used it once and wouldn't apply it again.

I've scraped up my truck a lot ("desert brush rash") and all of it (except the scrapes on the plastic on the backs of the mirrors) can be buffed out. But you can only buff the clear coat so many times and that's it.

After 3 1/2 years of ownership and many desert trips and brush encounters my Raptor still looks nearly new.

I say pass on the magnetic sheeting.

A lot of the Hummer guys use them GM came out with them as an accessory for a while. Usually they end up duct taped onto the truck cause the magnets can't hold up to the dust, dirt, water. The owners just accepts the fact that they will need to clean off the duct tape residue when the get home. (I actually think most make their children do it)

I got some of the xpel clear bra material.
As a test I applied it to a small area in the bed and tried to scratch it up with a knife.
Didn't damage the paint at all.

I'm sampling a few other products, I'll post how they work out.
I may end up using clear bra on the entire truck.

Testing in the bed since I plan to linex it, so scratches there won't matter.
