Hello, just got off the phone with the dealer. They pretty much told me they won't do anything unless I bring the truck the 860 miles back to the dealership. Please contact me. Thanks!

Josh

Hi Josh,

The dealership will have to inspect the vehicle before they can perform any work on your truck. If you'd like, you can visit a dealership closer to you since that sounds like it would be more convenient. Enter your ZIP code here to find some local options: Locate a Dealer Search | Official Site of Ford Vehicles | Ford.com

You may also want to contact the general manager at the original dealership, but they'll probably want to see the truck in person. If you'd like me to get your feedback documented about the original dealership, just send me a private message (PM) with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, dealership info, and any details you want me to include.

I thought you were suggesting using a trim restore product like people use to make faded black plastic black again. I would rather have everything replaced but if they won't do anything I'll definitly hit you guys up. Thank you!

Totally get it... I would want the same on a brand new vehicle too. Keep us posted and you know where to find me if you need help.

Needless to say it has to be reasonable on both sides. But for your side, what did you expect the dealer to do, or what are you asking them to do? I would think at the very least you would have to take the truck back to the dealer to allow them to help solve the problem.

Another dealer much larger than them could look the truck over and communicate with the original dealer to fix the problem. Driving 1,700 miles round trip is hardly reasonable.

I would suggest trying the product in the thread I linked earlier. While I understand the desire to have the dealer fix their screw-up, it is going to be a frustrating hassle since they are so far away. I also don't think another dealer is going to fix the first dealer's issue, since it was not a warranty repair to begin with. It would be up to the first dealer to fix their mistake and they are not going to want to pay a second dealer to fix it just because you live far away.

You might just try a test spot to see how hard it is to get off and then decide which will take more of your time, fixing it yourself or arguing with the dealer and having to travel so far for them to fix it.

Unless they caused the staining by using acid, I really doubt the bumper and flares will need to be replaced. More likely, the kid doing the detailing was on acid when he left the bug/tar remover on too long and it dried.

I read the thread you suggested. Never figured never dull would work for something like that. That being said, Crystal with Fodd Service put me in touch with who I needed to talk to. Truck is going to my preferred dealer on Monday morning first thing to get the suspension clunk looked at and everything else looked at to see what is going to happen. That's all I'm going to say about it for now. I have a feeling everything will be taken care of. Ford's customer service has seriously been amazing thus far. Not stressing it anymore. Thanks for the suggestion though! That idea will be in my back pocket as a backup plan!

Glad to hear good progress is being made. It's amazing how much more reasonable dealers become after Crystal is on the case! She helped me out a while back and it made a huge difference. I have said it before and will say it again, we are lucky to have her on FRF.

She escalated it quite a ways up the chain I think. I will no longer be dealing with the original dealer I purchased from in Georgia. My dealer of choice locally will be handling everything. We are VERY lucky to have Crystal cruising the forum looking for guys having trouble. I haven't ever received the customer service from another automobile manufacturer like I have with Ford thus far. I hope it continues!
