Hello, picked up a 2014 White Supercrew a week and a half ago and I have some weird what looks to be runs in my front bumper and front flares. I think the dealer cleaned the truck with something that must have stained them or something...

Hi jtrimmell,

I'd definitely recommend getting this in front of your dealership so they can address it. Be sure to come back and post your results. I'll check in on this thread to see how things go.

Hello, I've sent an email to my sales guy at the dealership. When I get a response I'll let you know. I hope they take care of it. Thanks for the help!

Hello, just got off the phone with the dealer. They pretty much told me they won't do anything unless I bring the truck the 860 miles back to the dealership. Please contact me. Thanks!

Right...drive 860 miles each way to get rid of some stains. Now I'm curious as to what Ford will do. Hopefully Crystal can work something out with another dealer.

Could possibly be a little staining from a degreaser or a bug & tar remover which often times contain solvents/petroleum distillates that don't play well with most plastics.

I'd start simple, clean with soap/water then apply a trim dressing like our Super VRT, in most cases that should be all thats needed on something like this.

The sales manager wasn't to enthused. Basically said bring the truck down or they won't do anything. Not taking another two days off to drive down and spend another $500 in gas. Hopefully Ford can do something. From what I understand they have cheap labor detailing their cars. I'm sure they sprayed something on the truck cleaning it. Pretty disappointing for how much we have to pay for these trucks.

I don't want to "mask" the imperfections. The dressing will make it look like its gone but it's still there.

Thus the reason I suggested you clean it first with a soap/water mixture. If it is solvent caused then what happened is the area was dried/discolored by the chemical. Removing the chemical and re-moisturizing the area with a water based conditioner wouldn't be masking, it would be restoring the look to the surface.

If soap and water don't completely remove any residues try a 1:1 dilution of all purpose cleaner instead of the soap.

I used some chemical guys car wash soap with warm water and a micro fiber towel. No dice. Didn't do anything.

My mistake, I thought you were suggesting using a trim restore product like people use to make faded black plastic black again. I would rather have everything replaced but if they won't do anything I'll definitly hit you guys up. Thank you!
