Wow, mind to tell what you didn't like with the 3.0s and why you like these springs better?

It's interesting to hear so many people starting to come out saying the 3.0s aren't worth it, unless you beat on your truck. I just can't justify $5000. The ride would have to be incredible...

IMO: What you said above. The 3.0's would be great if you ran wide open back roads where the suspension can cycle through its range of motion. My truck is a daily driver and spends most of its life on-road and I don't work my suspension that hard. . The 3.0's have okay on-road manners. They do firm up the feel of the suspension. Too much for my liking. They transmit too much of the road from every expansion joint, heave line or fricken pot hole. If Fox could create a progressive rate spring for this shock and softer valving to match, add the DSC to it for adjustment, then the 3.0's might work for me. But not as they are.

This is my only my opinion. I know those that have FOX, ICON, KINGS or others have their own opinion. The ride we choose for our truck is subject to our own personal taste. Not everyone has the same taste.

I just measured the front of my truck, SCAB, which is on mid-perch with OEM spring. Using the same method, top of center cap to bottom of fender flare, the measurement is 24 1/2". So it looks like you gain an inch with these springs on bottom perch.

Have to wait a few weeks to see if the new springs settle.

You're correct. I measured the same way yesterday after Towerhog posted those measurements and I had 24.5" up front on my Supercrew at mid-perch. Forgot to post it.

Only concern I'd have with this setup is the shocks are valved for the stock springs not a progressive. Not a big deal probably. However, the front suspension bottoms out already pretty easily on mid and even top perch. Now your putting a softer progressive rate spring in there which could very easily make it an even bigger problem.

Not a big deal, if you plan to spend most of your time on pavement. I don't quite get comparing these to 3.0's as an upgrade. Maybe adding these and having the stock shocks tuned specifically for them. But I see this more as an apples to oranges comparison. 3.0's are so much more than just spring rates.

I don't disagree about 3.0's not being as comfy on road. Nothing is smoother than stock shocks and some deavers/nationals. However, if you're lookin for improving offroad performance 3.0's can't be beat. It all comes down to what you want your truck setup for. Obviously, the wallet comes into play haha.

Totally agree you can't really compare these springs on stock shocks with 3.0s, but after talking to John and his impression of 3.0s, both of the two favs on the site, and his set-up with the new springs he had made, he wants to go back. I also went for a ride with little_d and he took a pretty rough dirt road around 35/40 MPH and hit a couple pot holes that i was waiting to bottom out, and he didn't. My stock truck on mid would have bottomed out for sure. I wouldn't call these a softer spring, just more control rebound and compression...which i guess is the definition of a progressive. Once i get mine and install them, we'll have to go play in the dirty with your set up and mine and give a good side by side test.

And you know which trail we'll use to test them. :secret: stay to the right.
