2017 with almost 50k miles.

started making noise on cold startups about a year ago. I was hesitant to get fixed as the truck was running great. But I finally had it done.

dealer had truck 3 days. Gave me a new F-150 as a loaner. I hated the v8 in it. But otherwise it was fine.

lots of bonuses with the cam phaser job... they replaced water pump, coolant fluid, oil and a bunch of other stuff.

truck still runs great but now absolutely no additional noises on cold startups!

I’ve had zero issues with the warranty repair and dealer made it really easy. They said they do 1 a week. (It’s a big dealer). Hopefully no surprises pop up!

Since my 2017 is sitting at 41,000 miles and had no cam phaser issues yet, it makes me happy to see success stories like this. Although I doubt my dealer would do the same unfortunately.

Nice to hear. I'd be surprised if any dealer in my region has ever done one on a Raptor. One of the only downsides to rural living is that kind of stuff. How was it covered under warranty? Isn't the whole warranty done at 36k miles?

It's covered under power train to 60k miles. Had mine done @ 18k and 38k. Started making noise again @ 48k and traded her in for a '20.

Haha no shit. I just cracked 36k and thought I was not totally out of warranty. Dealer can't fix a squeak or rattle to save their lives anyway so apparently I'm golden. Just need the Gen 3 to be out for a bit before I hit 60k apparently.

Track record says wait a couple years on the very new stuff. '17 & '18's had cam phaser issues. '19 and '20, not so much. With a '20 right now, if they do any major changes on the power train, I figure I'll get a '24 at the end of '23 and the bugs should be worked out by then. Though, in your case, I'd take my chances on the Gen3 when getting close to 60k miles. :)

Also, I just Cobb Goosed my '20, 93oct Stage 1 and OEM+ TCM, best thing I could have done! Never tuned the '18 I had before it. I waited a year and 20k miles on my '20 to make sure all was good.
