Couple questions:

1) Does the 5 Star intake and tune cause any warranty issues? If so, do you know what they are?

2) I understand that I can have different "tunes" Fuel effeciency vs increased power etc..is that correct? If correct, what is involved in switching between the "tunes"? Can I be in fuel effeciency mode and then quickly switch to power mode?

1) I can't really speak to the warranty issues.... That's really between you and your dealer.

2) yes. Most tunes are files loaded onto a handheld tuner (SCT makes a device you see used often these days). A tuning company like 5star creates their tune files and then loads them onto the tuning device (imagine your computer transferring songs to your iPod... Same concept). The tune files (performance, economy, etc) can even be emailed to you and you can load them onto the handheld device from home. Either way, once you have the loaded device, it hooks up to a port on the underside of the trucks steering column. When it is hooked up, you select which tune you want and begin the download process.

I haven't tuned my Raptor yet because there are other engine mods I want to do first. I did hang out with RaptorGuy21 a few times while he loaded various JDM tunes on his old Raptor... We would just hook it up, crack a few beers and chuck the football while a tune loaded.... Seemed like whenever he would change tunes (you only run 1 at a time) it was roughly a 20 minute wait for the tune to load.

Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you for the details on the process; appreciate it.

Back on track regarding the fuel efficiency, I'd say $2200 a YEAR to drive a Raptor vs a Ranger is well worth it in my book. Not a big difference between best and worst $-wise for all the additional benefits you get.

I'm certain none of us bought Raptors for the fuel economy - the haters just be hatin' because they don't have flying trucks like us! :roflsquared:

the difference between driving a 4-banger light truck and the Raptor is a cup of premium coffee a day.
