Updates

Well it has been a long time since any updates. This is primarily due to me being at the point where I am just enjoying my truck, maintaining whats been done and using the hell out of it. Been on several trips since DV and she has performed magnificently. There have been some issues that I will share:

Steering Rack was replaced, long saga local dealer wouldn't do, Tuttle Click in OC did under warranty

Recently I had a pin-hole leak on RF CV boot. After getting entire half shaft replaced, I tested in 4WD high and at about 30 MPH I heard loud clunking noises and the truck pulled to one side. Dealer first couldn't find any problem, then when I went for a test drive they said they would not replace (Hub) under warranty because of my mods. Had to point out that none of the mods affected the drive system, so they replaced one tested and realized the other side was messed up too. So they replaced that one too. They suggested not to engage 4 WD while under any kind of load as the metal spline were all chewed up. Good advice I will take!

After all the work from the dealer the Rt Tie rod is seized, likely caused by idiot at Ford, waiting to get my truck into RPG for this and a couple of other mods. What you may ask?

Hood lights, I have had these HID monsters for a while, just waiting on the brackets, and then life got in the way.

Bumper mod - My RPG Raceline bumpers were in effect the prototypes. Since my front was made they modified (pushed out) so that light tabs could be placed behind. My bumper was drilled and dimpled which works great but offers no front protection to the lights. Even though we left a space in the middle the front camera is severely blocked. Solution will be to create another bar in the front of the bumper to both protect and provide mounting space for camera/washer. Ideally this will roll up and out for a nerf bar type set up.

I did make my own padding for the interior roll hoop. Found 1.125" Rubber (not the foam - this stuff is super dense) pipe insulation at Home Depot for about $7 for a 4 or 5' piece. I used 4 pieces and about a hundred black zip ties. On the main "Oh Shit" handle I spaced the ties every 1" to create comfortable hand holds, fingers fit nicely into the compressed grooves. All exposed surfaces have been covered with the tie ends hidden or away from contact.

Sorry for the crappy pics... these were taken while I was working on it.

It took me two days, but I finally got through this whole thread. Wow, what a great build. Thanks for taking the time to document everything along the way. I just ordered a 2014 white scab, and your thread has sold me on a few things. Definitely the RPG bump stop system, and the pre-runner bumper to start, and many others along the way. RPG just rocks, plain and simple. I have yet to see something they produce I dont like. I love the prototype running boards on that RPG scab.

I was wondering about the UMP: How do you like it? I cant find a price or any vendors that have it for sale online.

Call RPG for the UMP

Thanks for covering Brian, was in AZ for a wedding, only saw 2 Raptors in a 1000 miles and those were in CA driving. Drove thru some great looking desert, Yuma Proving grounds, stuck in the Suburban, people hauler:snoopfacepalm: Anyway, the UMP -

Love the UMP, the sound and performance are great and the knowledge that dirt is not sneaking into my intact, Priceless.

I never posted this up, but there is a small ridge on the fiberglass hood that needs to get shaved down as it ground a small ridge into the aluminum, never penetrated but would have without remediation. Took all of 30 seconds to do with grinder. $545 is the cost for the UMP
