Hey guys,

New Raptor owner here, been lurking for a while but this is my first post.

My 2018 has been having some issues the last couple of days. On Startup only there is a loud grinding noise which goes away immediately. If I turn it off and turn it back over it does not replicate. Seems to only happen when it has been sitting for a while.

The other issue that has happened a couple of times in the last few days is upon hard acceleration it almost has a feeling of hitting fuel cut. It just goes to no power all the sudden. The boost gauge will easily peg out out 20 psi but there is no power. If you turn the car off and restart it seems to go away. This has happened twice over the last couple of days at unfortunate times (merging onto freeway, accelerating to pass someone). Last night I pushed it and the CEL finally came on so I could take it to the dealer. Unfortunately it turned off again this morning. I cannot stand bringing it to the dealer so I wanted to see if anyone else was having a similar issue with a relatively easy fix I can do myself.

Thanks in advance!

Might be cam phasers, seems to be a common problem in F-150s. Look for videos online to see if it matches the sound you are hearing and then take it in to the dealership for repairs. Might be helpful capturing it on video in case the dealer cannot recreate it.

Better do something you cant stand doing

I agree. Just poor timing, we are having our second child next week and I need both cars. May just have to rent something and leave it all the dealer. This is one of the times I miss driving a foreign car, at least they make it easy to get serviced!

The code might be stored, you could swing by an Autozone and have them scan it for free, or otherwise find a scan tool and see if it is...

Great Idea. I will make sure I record it next time.

Sounds like your issue is dealer related and not a foreign vs domestic issue. My last two vehicles before the Raptor were both Lexus vehicles, when I took them in, I got a loaner. When I take my Raptor in, I get an Enterprise rental (on dealer premises) but it's paid for. Granted, the loaners I got from Lexus were far nicer than the XLT with no options to speak of I get from Enterprise, and they were a bit more lax if I came in the day after my vehicle was ready but point being, I was not without a vehicle.

Thanks for that information. I am in Dallas so I will call around to different dealers. I do not care what they give me to drive, just don't want to be without a car.
