I don't understand the hostility towards people ("greenies") who want a healthier environment. I know many of them can be self-righteous ******** (Prius drivers, mostly), but there are those who feel a responsibility to reduce their energy consumption and for that they shouldn't be faulted. Personally, I built an energy-efficient home (with my own hands) and I'm proud of that fact. I don't feel like I need to apologize for this fact any more than I have to apologize to anyone for driving a Raptor - absolute dismissal of either mindset doesn't leave any room for debate or compromise.
It's probably because the majority of the people who call themselves "green" are 110% full of shit. I'm not talking about you but the other people that are just plain hypocrites. It's pretty obvious to decipher one from the other because you can see that the hypocrites are uneducated, easily manipulated, and trying to enhance their personal image. I bet you that nobody on this forum has anything against going green whatsoever. I turn off my lights, faucet, computer, a/c, heater, etc. as often as possible. However, I enjoy taking some cars out for joy rides. This may be wasteful but it seems worth it for me because of my personal pleasure. Who has the right to deny me pleasure and enjoyment? I may be polluting and burning up fossil fuels but I'm not the only one.
As a Hummer owner, I've been attacked, hammered with meaningless criticism, and also vandalized. However, I do not see vehicles such as the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, etc. experiencing the same unanimous hate as the Hummer brand while each SUV listed above gets worse or similar fuel economy as my Hummer. Even worse, they're MUCH more abundant than the Hummer. Scientifically, that would mean that those vehicles are doing more damage because of their significant numbers in comparison to that of the Hummer brand.
It's also funny because people who attack me don't know anything about me. My father runs a green energy company and his lakehouse is made out of a sustainable type of bamboo.
In conclusion, there is no hostility towards "greenies." There's only hostility towards the hypocrites which, unfortunately, are the majority of the group.
